It must be an extremely low wattage kit if it takes its power from the reverse light harness and not from the battery.. im doing 35 watts so it needs to go to the battery and have a turn on relay to the reverse lights

^ considering the amount of time the reverse lights are on for, i doubt it, however it is a possibility imo.

i think its a great idea so people actually realize your backing out of a spot.. and at night my reverse lights dont even shine bright enough to light up my driveway or for me to see through my tints

The only time I have seen anyone melt their housing by doing this was on the TSX forum and it was due to a faulty ballast. Now he has been running them for 4 years with no issue. I think its great, it lets people know.. IM BACKING THE **** UP!!!! and it will let me see through my tints and on my backup camera which works ok at night but could be better. I just picked up some slim ballasts and a harness so Im all set.. will be installing this setup tonight!! I will include a DIY

A year ago I did it and used standart 35W HID, but powered it with the cord coming from battery to my aftermarket amplifier in the trunk:

p.s. btw, now it has no signs of melting or peeling inside of the backlights (using 35W H3 lamps)!
