Plenum post size variation and why Motordyne is awesome

Was going for the world record fastest MREV2 and 5/8" plenum spacer install tonight and everything was going great until I tried to fit the two halvesback together. The 2 left side plenum posts appeared to be larger in diameter than the other 4, and those 2 posts weren't sitting down into the plastic spacer cups, making the whole top half wobble and not sit flush.
I had installed both of these mods on an identical '06 G before and had no troubles, so was a little confused why it wasn't sitting right this time. After trying to force the spacers on, bend the spacer cup edges out, and generally beast the damn thing closed, I thought I would try calling Motordyne as I had heard in the past about them offering uncommonly good customer service.
It was about 5:30 PT and they picked right up and offered to help. Tony explained that when Nissan casts the plenum, the molds can get a little bit off in places. Apparently these posts sometimes vary in size and he's actually widened the cup size twice to try to accommodate all of the imperfections. However mine must have been really screwed. (And was his first report of this in 4 years, hopefully no one else runs into it...) Tony suggested cutting/sanding/grinding the cups flush with the spacer so that it can slide on. You don't have the extra security of the cup hugging the post during install, but as long as you don't knock a spacer off into the engine it will still work fine. Only took about 10 minutes with a boxcutter/razor and the rest of the install went perfectly.
Finally have that Motordyne intake sound/feel back and I'm loving it. Also couldn't have been more impressed with Tony helping me out personally after business hours. I was on the fence about Hotchkis or MD sway bars, but what the hell, definitely going Motordyne now.
TLDR: Some upper plenum posts can be extra fat and not fit spacer cups. Remove the cups from the spacer. Motordyne is the ****.

Yep, Tony is among the best that Driver has to offer in terms of vendors. Always goes the extra mile - sometimes to his detriment - and makes sure his customers are satisfied.
Never can say enough good things about him, his wife, and Motordyne.

Installing my copper TB heater I had to bend the 90 degree tube 180 degrees. Tony let me know if his product broke he would replace it for free. It bent no issue. Love that guy and his company!

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

He offered another run on the VQ exhaust a while back and there wasn't enough interest for him to move forward. I'm floored or didn't happen but I'm just glad I have mine.
