Replace or Repair Quarter Panel
Replace or Repair Quarter Panel (Here are the picture of the damage)
I just got side swap by a Toyota Sienna. This happen on the 22 West freeway around those dam curvy section near each exit. The damage is from the driver door all the way to the bumper, and the bumper is damage too. I'll post a pick 2nite.
Anyways, took my car to California Auto Collision, Fountian Valley Auto Body, Calibur Collision, Hi-Tech, and Skillcraft Auto Body for an estimate.
Some shop is recommending me to repair the quarter panel, while others are telling me to replace the whole quarter panel.
What is better?

The argument for repairing is that the original welding for the panel is done by computer. Human can not do a good of a job. So, if we replace the panel, then this will create more trouble in the future...
Something like that...
That's why the Fountain Valley Auto Body guy told me that he will repair the quarter panel instead.
I thought that made sense, then I thought about the wob throughout the panel. How the hell they going to fix all of that. Would a new piece be better then a piece that is fix w/ a hammer?

that makes sense to me and besides with the repair... it is only the cosmetic part that they are fixing... if you replace it, then you would go down to the welding.
