Do we need safety equiptment like a helmet, gloves or five point harness in the event? Or do we just bring our cars and go for it? Damn this sounds exciting......if there is one track I want to drive on it's Laguna Seca.

All that is required is a helmet.
If you do not have one, see if you can borrow a friend's motorcycle helmet (they'll get you by). If not, some helmets costs as low as $99 (you do get what you pay for however).

Don't worry about me I have the complete setup down to the driving shoes. I use to Rally and do solo 2 during my single days. All I need now is to convince the wife about me joining the track meet. LOL!!!

Well...I have some f**king news for you all. Apparently, they heard that I was going to file a lawsuit on them. And, now they are not terminating me, they are just waiting for me to resign. So, the ball is now in my court. Sorry for the confusion, I am so f**king upset right now. But, I will win this battle! And, once I do, we all need to go out and celebrate!

Here's a sweet snap of the infamous turn-8/8a ... aka 'Cork Screw'.
It is about 100x more dramatic when you're in the car :O

In general, there is no deadline for registration. However, the slots do get filled farily quickly for certain tracks and there is a late charge if signing up later than 2-wks prior to the event.
Normally, registration starts about a month before the event, so it should open sometime mid to late this moth. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted!

The reason I was asking is that I just got a new job and want to see how it goes. I really want to go. DO you know of any store in LA that sells helmets for cheap.

I'm not familiar with any local helmet shops, but they're around to be sure.
Bike helmets will run you a lot less than Car helmets. Of course, you do get what you pay for ... then again, we're not racing nor doing 200mph down the straights, so any of these bike helmets will do the job.
Here are a few links off the net:

Bike Helmets 3

Car Helmets 2
Hope that helps!

Shouldnt the bike helmet be stronger cause you got less protection from the vehicle itself. In a car you are enclosed but on a bike anything can happen.

Yes, that is not incorrect. A bike crash is very different from a car crash, however. They are simply optimized to handle the impacts differntly, although not all are designed using this philosophy. But, either of em is better than nothing, which is why most track events will qualify *any* helmets that meets DOT and/or SNELL standards up to a specified level, regardless of bike or car helmet.

Well, I just signed up for this event. Can't wait to see how my springs and sways improve the cornering ability of the G. Now I need to go get a helmet and some driving shoes.
