pics from ** LAGUNA SECA **

Here are some pics of Ed (Eagle1) and myself in action at Laguna Seca.

... enjoy!

Waiting to enter the paddock area in the morning (I'm in the middle of the shot):

Eagle1 through the infamous 'Cork Screw':

Eagle1 just exiting the 'Cork Screw' trailing a S2000, WRX, and an E36:

Me coming out of the final turn onto the front straight being trailed by a 'silver' dude:

... while the men are hard at work out in the field, this is what the ladies are doing! Got the latest issue of Cosmo?

A few artistic shots of my G with my cousin's S2000 at the end of the day:

Re: pics from ** LAGUNA SECA **

Great pics, Clint. Thanks so much for posting them on the board. The bimmer was holding everybody up. The Subie took him on the straight between 10 and 11, and I took the bimmer and the S2000 on the front straight that followed.

Those pics do show the elevation drop, which continues all the way down through turn 9.

Who do we thank for being the shutter bug? That was way too far from the pit for you to sashay over for a few casual clicks!

Re: pics from ** LAGUNA SECA **

Ed,
Come on, you don't think I can get those shots with my 750x zoom telephoto lense from the paddock area???

Alright, you caught me! The two pics of you were actually taken by a freelance photographer. He's selling the ultra high res. version (2304x1536) here at $5.00 each and $8.00 for two. Dig through them carefully, looks like you were in there quite a few times. I'd gladly purchase one of myself, but he only managed to catch me once and botched it (half of my car is missing entering the corkscrew!)

The rest of the pics were taken by my cousina and friends. The last few 'dusk' shots were taken using long exposures and came out really neat.

I finished editing out a 7min chunck of 'in car' video last night. It turned out great, but I need someone to host it for me. It came in at a hefty 128meg, but well worth it IMO!

Re: pics from ** LAGUNA SECA **

Right out of the box, the G35s 6mt w. Sports Suspension more than exceeded my expectation when I took it out to Buttonwillow just a few months earlier. The only complain is a little more chassis weight transfer durring hard transitions than I had liked. Ultimately, if you can just trust it and ride it out, it actually sticks, but it sure gives an uninspiring feeling while it's doing it's thing at the back. The stock 215 (F & R) Goodyear GS-D held up extremely well under the abuse, but was definitely holding me back. This car is crying for more traction at the back. With that said, I knew there was two things I'd like to address prior to hitting Laguan Seca: Suspension and Tires.

I wound up with Tein Type Flex coilovers and 225/275 Race tires. Besides a K&N drop-in air filter and a full set racing brake pads (to withstand the elevated heat), everything else was left stock. I walked away from Laguna Seca feeling content! The car performed brilliantly, despite some steady-state understeer at the limit. I was expecting this 'pushing' condition, however, since these new Teins come with 12 kg/mm springs both front and rear. It'd be better if the front was about 2 kg/mm softer. My next upgrade will be a set of sway bars to dial out those steady state pushes and perhaps some spring swaps to go along. I'm also thrilled by making the right call on the tire sizing. 225/245 turned out as well as I had calculated (for my car).

THX - could you post the link to those pics done by the photographer? I'd really like to see them, but the link didn't work.

Re: pics from ** LAGUNA SECA **

At last ... I found someone to host the video HERE (please right click and 'save as' before viewing). It's a slow server so be very patient as it comes in at a hefty 128 megs!

You'll have to excuse the heavy wind noise in the video, I ran with the windows down and should of went with an external mic mounted under the dash.

Enjoy!

*** Anyone else who could help host please do so and post a link here!

Link for video doesn't work Clint. What camera mount did you go with? Did you end up buying the headrest one we saw at the LA Auto Show?

That wouldn't be the one from ChaseCam (at the LA Auto Show), would it?
