Tint Questions

hey everyone.. now that its getting hot, i want to get my car tinted, but i have a few questions and was wondering if anyone had any input.. i did a search however didnt have much luck finding much information... well here are my questions:

1. Can anyone recommend a tint shop around diamond bar or anaheim?
2. How much should I pay for the tint job on a coupe?
3. What kind of tint would you suggest on a TB? solarguardgraphite? Quantum? ceramic based tint? And is there any significant difference between the 2? warranty on fading?
4. Does anyone know the legalities of having tint on the front windows if you have doctor's note?
5. will metal based tints affect the operation of a nav/radio?
6. anyone tint their windsheild? is the lightest tint noticable? is it true that if you get caught with it, the cops can impound your car?

id really appreciate any information... thanks

I know with a doctors "perscription" (not just a note) you may have your front tinted no darker than a I believe 35%... and as far as the windshield goes you are correct, straight to the impound if you are cited.

Re: Tint Questions

I have 23% all the way around... payed $150 for all windows... paying an extra $77 for a tint ticket I received... otherwise most places charge $20+ to remove the 2 front tint and the place I went to will charge anothe $50 to retint + the 10 fix it charge... $80+ to go thru the hastle or $77 to pay it off and not have to deal with the run around.

You shouldn't pay more than $150 for 5 windows on your Coupe... Try to stay away from the metallics as they do interfear a little. They also cost a little more too, so most tint shops will tell you it's okay and it won't mess with your reception. Standard cost per side window is $25-$30 and rear window $50. You shouldn't have a problem talking them down.

Re: Tint Questions

Hey I just had my G tinted this week. I used:

wintech. . It cost $160 but they have a mobile service so they did it while I was sitting at my desk doin my work. They service orange county so Diamond Bar (hey thats where I grew up) might be out of range but Anaheim should work. They have a lifetime warranty against everything except for damage from seatbelts.

Re: Tint Questions

That's awesome...I just put in a estimate request with Wintech. Are you pretty happy with their work? How did you choose what level of tint you put on - did they let you pick when they got there?

Re: Tint Questions

Yeah it came out nice. Its only been a week so I can't really comment on longevity. They bring samples of the different shades. I chose the 35% because my interior is black. If i had the willow I probably would have done 20-25.
