Pre-ran cruise route :(

So I went up today to pre-run the cruise route. The road was closed halfway through. On the way up to the closure though, I encountered numerous rocks in the roadway, snow (not on the roadway) and water on the road from the melting snow. Hopefully they open the road before Saturday.

On another note, my VDC and slip lights came on while driving up. I pulled over and restarted the engine. The lights came back on during more hard driving. I have already had the brake light switch recall performed, so I have to schedule an appointment to get this looked at again.

XM radio info: I only had a few minor drop-outs that totalled less than a minute, so you will be able to enjoy it the whole time.

Geeez ... not again! If the road condition does not get any better by Friday afternoon it'll be a no go :*(

Re: Pre-ran cruise route :(

I, for one definitely paid real close attention to your post. I was just going to check the Cal Trans website on Friday before making a decision.

If the road conditions don't improve I'm going to skip the long trek up north and just go to the Mazda Rev It Up event here in San Diego since I've already paid for it.

The "Plan B" route wasn't real exciting last time...

As of right now, part of the highway is still closed . We better check http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roads.cgi closely on SR-2 .

Re: Pre-ran cruise route :(

hope the road opens... what about heading the other way to Big Bear up hwy 38 or 330 and then back around to the 210 or 10? Still very senic and fun to drive. Having 90+ G's though Running Springs would be cool....

Re: Pre-ran cruise route :(

Well, we dont have to run the whole cruise, we can stop by Newcomb's and chill over there for a bit and turn around head back. Or we head from the back of the Crest, its less traffic and cops.
Or there are other canyons we can run like: Rock Store (Malibu), Ortega hwy, Polomar, Hwy 18, Hwy 39 (Glendora Ridge Road), but Angeles Crest is the closest. Click here for more.

how about azusa canyon? isn't that relatively near performance nissan? i don't know how the drive is up there, or how long it is, since i haven't been there in 15 years.

just a suggestion.
