Just curious -- why not pick another name rather than team transport?

"Chairman" I like that...sounds good. G35Lin has some good hookups too. I can hook everyone up on pretty much everything but OEM parts. I already convinced him to lower the prices on the fujitsubo exhaust and the Impul kit [img]/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/img]

who wants a new name? I just think that team transport has a good ring to it. I also feel a responsibility to keep team transport going since Ritche(the "founder of team transport") had handed this name down to me when he quit. Also Team transport has been known in the import scene as a well and rounded team. Although ppl always think of Ritche when they see team transport. I guess i can go for another name. Suggestions??

Does anyone object if we have other ppl than Gs??? Are we keeping this team all to Gs or what? I have some other friends that will join as well!!

 

If this team is limited to the G, I have a name for the team. How about horizon??

haha.....i guess i could be of some use after all.....i do have many connections in the import business. i used to work sales and marketing for axis so i'm pretty close with alot of the manufacturer's out there. im pretty sure my friends over at gruppe-s wouldnt mind supporting us since we're mostly g's. and i think if we got enough guys and if we look somewhat nice, we can maybe squeeze a falken tire sponsorship out of my guy there......the possibilities are endless..............and as far as oem parts go, got dealership friends......parts and service manager at cerritos!

A team with just one type of car won't last long. Need to have variety and be diverse. Take it from my experience with Si's.

I'd have to agree with DiamondG...if we are a "G" only team, there is the chance the team will fade after a while.

On the other hand, what better way to gain notoriety than to be a "G" only team.... what a quandry!

So here's my take. We should not bill ourselves as a "G" only team. However, because of the folks that are interested in rekindling Team TRANSPORT (or whatever the name will be), we just stick with what we have for the time being. If, by some chance, an NSX comes around or some 350Z's, or a Hummer wants to join...the door is open.

The success of the team depends on everyone taking and active part and living up to their commitment to show at least 2 or 3 times a year (locally) - not how much you spend on your aftermarket upgrades. I don't think everyone is expecting to take home a trophy every time we show (although it would be nice). I, like Ed, just like having people check out my ride. Having a source for discount or freebie parts, as part of a sponsored team is a severe bonus! But we have to be united and support the team!

That would also include making strong showings at the G35driver meets in order to "farm" the newbie G's - or 350z/datsuns/nissans that show up. You would be ambassadors - - or "recruiters".

I was also talking to Ed about the Southern California G Owner's Assoc. (SCGOA) group he has started. It might be a good idea to "connect" the two...meaning, if you just love your G and wanna hang out and be a part of something, you are a member of SCGOA. But if you want to put your mods too good use, or mod your car for a purpose, Team TRANSPORT is the officially recognized Team for SCGOA (same folks anyway!).

A show team will die before a car club, as there is more to being on show team than just owning the car and caravaning from Krispy Kreme to a parking lot somewhere and then cruising up the Angeles Crest. So if SCGOA ever dies, the writing is probably on the wall for a show team. Having them tied together also helps keep both groups healthy and populated.

I don't mind sticking with Team TRANSPORT Motorsports as a name. It has history, and in this business that is recognition and open doors. I new name puts the added burden of proving ourselves as newbie show group. What plays better in a mag article.... "TRANSPORT is back"... or "Something on the HORIZON?"

"HORIZON" is a great name. I wish I had thought of it. I also knwo that Ed carries a burden of keeping the TRANSPORT torch alive. Perhaps we meet and see who is serious about showing. If the commitment is there, and the support is there (Ed's got a tough job putting all these groups together) then that's when it is decided to keep the name or change it. Perhaps we also get input from some possible sponsors....do they like being associated with a known name as TRANSPORT, or do they care if we rebadge ourselves?

I like HORIZON if we are a G only team.
But IMO Team Transport just sounds good.
I agree with SoCalTed, maybe we should all meet and discuss.
If I had to vote today I'd say TRANSPORT.

I've said it before, Ed. I'm with whatever you decide, beng that you are starting this up. IMHO, I do like the TRANSPORT name and history.

Ed, have you done a roll-call on the old Team TRANSPORT?

When I signed on to onlineshowoff.com last year and joined Team TRANSPORT, I got a pretty warm reception from the old team...but nobody seems active.

Its great you guys are starting a crew.. but i think a different name would suit you guys better... also I own Karnage Motorsports and I'd be mroe then willing to do a few partial sponsorships! If someone is really interested.. I also think you should keep it high class.. not only G35's, but like IS300, Acura TL's, Audi's, etc etc.. keep the low class like Civics and Integras out!

 

They are pretty much dead. I will try to call them and see whats up. We'll setup a Transport meeting sometime in Mid of April so i can have something.! that sounds good? OR i have time this saturday if ppl want to meet up! Dinner? Lunch? Hang out? Boba? Anything is cool with me saturday! Free all day long!
