Someone care to give me a hands-on demo of the Bearcat BCT-10/12 in action (SoCal area)?

SocalTedand Rashman1450 seem to swear by them in detecting the presence of COPs and CHPs. My past experience was not so gratifying, however. I use to own a BCT-7 back in the days (1994) and thought it was a complete waste of my money! The alarm went off constantly and appeared not related to the presence of COPs or CHPs. You could said it was totaly random and just plain annoying. Into the wastebasket it went!

Has the BCT lines improved since? Please indulge me!

Clint - gurgen has my BCT-10 and forgot to drop it off at the Team Transport dim-sum meet. Have him ship it to you and you can play with it. You can get it to me when you've had your fill. I'm running the BCT7 in my G right now.

PS - you probably had DOT or weather alerts turned on!

the only diff between the 10 and 7 is the big daddy (7's) pick up 800Mhz - airplane chatter.

The 10 doesn't.... plus the 10 is compact/portable radar detector size.

BTW, is the BCT-12 functionally the same as the BCT-10 but in a smaller enclosure? Another question, wouldn't the alarm go off constantly since police cars are abundant in the cities?

I don't think I had the BCT-7 ... maybe it was a BCT-3??? ... that was about 10 years ago.

Yea they are the Same. When we went on that canyon run a couple of days ago remember you Saw that Cop in the SUV. Well i picked it up he was going after the bikes. I was hearing all of it. I just put in an order for a Digital scanner. Dont know when the thing is supposed to arrive but hopefully before Vegas Invasion.

Clint i have the BCT-10. My buddy has the a valentine v1 also and when he goes on trips he always wants to borrow my scanner. So far it has saved him twice.

I dont think Uniden makes these units anymore. You gotta find it on ebay. Thats what i did.

the will have a re-mfg unit avail for you within a couple of weeks at a fraction of the price on ebay.

The BCT7 picks up police aircraft, the smaller BCT10 does not. there are also BCT8 and 12's out there...newer models of the 7 and 10. There are no digital BCT units yet... per Uniden a week or two ago.

P.S. to tell you the truth, i think my small bct10 works much better than my big BCT7. I may switch them out when you are done playing with it.
