ISO Track day

So, my dads best friend lives up in PHX and has a really nice sedan. He sent me and my dad a email about ISO infiniti having a track day at firebird. Anyone want to go? Info is below:

This is your IOS Trackdays re-confirm request. We are excited about seeing you there!!

Please reply to this email confirming your intention to attend and to participate in the March 8th IOS Trackdays Event at Firebird. (That’s 2 weeks from this Sunday).

March 8th IOS Trackdays Details (in no particular order)
§ Firebird is at 20000 S Maricopa Road, just off the 10 Freeway. See Google map:
§ IOS Trackdays IV will be on the tight, technical, fun and safer West Track.
§ Enter at Gate 3. See attached aerial photo / map.
§ Firebird is easy to get to. It’s about 20 minutes from central Phoenix just off the I-10 freeway in Chandler and just south of the 202 Loop / Pecos Rd.
§ Gate opens at 6:30am
§ Everyone (drivers/riders/spectators) will register and sign waivers at the gate.
§ Pit activities begin at 7am
§ You are encouraged to arrive before 7:30. Before the organized activities begin, you will finish your registration; you will position and set up your area in the pit; we’ll give you (required) track numbers for you to apply to your vehicle; you'll apply blue painter’s tape to your car, if you want to; and you’ll meet other Infiniti enthusiasts for Coffee and Bagels etc.
§ Class and Track activities start at 8am
§ Classroom sessions are required for new participants.
§ If you'd like a pre-track safety inspection, contact our Service Department 480-240-3526. We will do a complimentary pre-track inspection in our Service Department, if you feel you need one. If you want to do this, we can still do this if you call right away.
§ Tires: Pressurize your tires to about midway between the recommended driving pressure and the maximum cold pressure specified on the sidewall of your tire. Please take the time to look up these pressures and to properly pressurize your tires. It is important to not have soft tires. We will have the ability to add air to your tires if needed, but it's best to arrive with acceptable track tire pressure.
§ Fuel: You will drive hard and fast on the track for over an hour in aggregate. These will be high fuel consumption miles, so arrive with a full tank so that you are not disappointed late in the day.
§ Blue Painters tape: If you want to mask the nose of your Infiniti, we suggest Blue Painter's Tape which you can get at Home Depot or Lowe's. We'll have a limited supply available. The track will be clean, but if you want to use this tape, you'll have added protection.
§ Complimentary IOS Trackdays T-shirts are provided – one complimentary per vehicle. If you're a repeat IOS Trackdays participant, then you already have your complimentary shirt. Additional shirts are available for purchase.
§ All drivers and passengers will wear helmets while on the track. You may bring your own (full; DOT or SNELL approved) or you may use IOS Trackdays loaner helmets or if you call our Parts Department in advance, you may buy an IOS Trackdays helmet.

§ The emphasis of IOS Trackdays Events is Performance and Safety Instruction.
§ All driver participants receive ASA certification and ID Cards
§ The West Track, while it is tight and technical, it is 8 feet below the pit area, has no walls, has wide and open dirt side areas. Because it has tighter turns and a shorter straightaway, speeds are not quite as high as the main Firebird Track. But the turns make it even more fun.
§ All skills invited; on-track grouping is done according to experience & skill level.
§ Classroom sessions are required for new participants.
§ As always, there will be in-car, on-track coaches for all new and most intermediate drivers.
§ All classroom sessions, track activities, and pit/track safety and admin is provided by Larry & Vickie Pond’s ProAutoSports LLC, an affiliate of ASA Racing. Nationally known with many years of experience in running track events, ProAutoSports staff has received rave reviews from prior IOS Trackdays participants. See ProAutoSports website: http://www.proautosports.com/
§ Each participating Infiniti vehicle will get 4 track sessions of about 15 to 20 minutes. Those vehicles with more than one driver will share the 4 sessions only.
§ Insurance: Most regular car insurance policies cover our activities because this is “driver instruction”, but specialized track insurance is now available from HPDE Insurance Program, for those who desire it. If interested go here http://hpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/Default.aspx?cID1. Full information is available there. If interested, click “Apply Online”. There, find the March 8th Infiniti / ProAutoSports Event, and click for more information, for cost, and to buy the insurance, if you wish.
§ Continental breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages will be provided - our treat. Coffee and water and soft drinks will be available all day. We’ve done everything from box lunches to carne asada in the past. This time we’ve been stimulated to do Gourmet Hot Dogs (plus all the fixins and side dishes and salads).
§ DJ hosted music will be provided in the pit.
§ We encourage participants to bring lawn chairs, pop-up canopies or other "tailgating" gear to enhance their pit time. Pop-up tents and canopies are available near the registration area.
§ Performance accessory vendors will attend.
§ Professional race car driver, Amy Elizondo, will again provide all-day high-performance demonstration rides in an Infiniti G or M. All are invited to ride along and see how excellent track lines result in very smooth, seemingly effortless high speeds. Classroom participation is not required to ride along with Amy. See Amy’s website: http://www.amyelizondo.com/
§ NicoClub.com will be with us again, and Greg Childs will drive his supercharged 05 G Coupe on the track as he did in October. See: www.nicoclub.com
§ We expect there may be TV and other media there again.
§ Really Cool Extra Feature: Factory engineers and test drivers from the Nissan/Infiniti Corporate Technical Center in Stanfield will participate. They have helped out in the past with VDC demos, etc. This time, Infiniti is bringing a 2009 G37 Convertible. This new (yet-unreleased) hard-top convertible model is absolutely gorgeous. We already have lots of pre-orders for it. Infiniti is also bringing possibly as many as 3 “Show” G Coupes ( including the Stillen modified 2008 G37 Coupe) from last month's SEMA Show in Las Vegas. If you have ideas about customizing your Infiniti, this will be really, really interesting for you. Additionally, the engineers will be asking for comments from participants. These owner/driver surveys will be used by Infiniti in product development.

To participate in the event, you need to have purchased your vehicle from IOS. I'm sure you can just attend the event and watch if you did not purchase your car from there.

Mal is a really cool guy, but the whole event is more for a customer appreciation thing for customers. They give food out, pay for the training of each person etc. If they just added people to the event, it would cost them a lot of money. I imagine they make a decent buck on the sale of the car, and that helps pay for the event. In addition, they want those customer coming back for future sales. Who knows though, can always give Mal a call.

Just so you guys are aware, most insurance companies will not cover you in the event. Someone hit a slick spot and smacked the wall, and Progressive did not cover it. Another guy had USAA and called ahead and asked if he was covered, and then they dropped him from the insurance for making the inquiry.

The loophole used to be that this event was "High performance driving" not racing, not timed, not wheel to wheel so you were covered. Well in the past 2 years, insurance companies have revised their exclusions clause to omit any driving on any permanent or temporary track, etc. Just something to be aware of.

I'd be willing to pay for it if they let us go, If they don't let us even PAY to be there then it makes me really NOT want to ever buy a car from them because it makes them seem like a bunch of stuck up b*tches. I understand there is a cost involved but why not let others pay their way?

IMO Insurance companies are stupid, people cant race in a "safe" place and be covered but they can go out on the street and run people down and they'll pay up. Nice to know.
