Hi..

I got a ticket for my illegal tinting of my front two windows the other day... so...
what I need:
A silver G35 willing to put on my plates and go with me to the place where they check you off for fix it tickets..

Why you ask? Becuase its too expensive to take my tint off, go get it checked off, then go and put my tint back on..

Im willing to pay whoever who wants to help me out like $80 cash...

 

They didn't get you for the missing front plate, too?

Yep -- they got me for that too...

Luckily I have another ticket for the plates thing... so they cant really give me two tickets for it.. but I guess im going to need to have my front plate on when your vehicle is dropped with wheels :/

 

just hope they don't check the VIN. can't remember if they do or not though.

Well... On my old 92 camry when I got a ticket for my tint they diddnt....

When I go in this weekend to get checked off for my front plate I will watch and see what they check for... I hope not.

i thought it was free to remove the tint...I didn't know it cost anything...the place i got it done said they would remove the tint for free...interesting...

Anyways thats a real good idea...I will have to try it...hehehe

Just take your car, and roll your windows done. Bring a cloth with you and pretend you are rubbing something off the window that is not there when the cop comes by. heheheh

 

On a fix-it ticket, isn't there an option to just pay a bigger fine?

Just a thought, I think that would be illegal. Just remove the tint and put on a front plate. You will just keep getting tickets.
I don't want to sound like a drag, but eventually you will have to comply.

 

It depends, really.

I brought my last car, a 92 Accord, over from Texas when I moved to SoCal. I had Texas-legal tint on the front windows, which I didn't even know at the time wasn't allowed here. Never got a ticket for it. Even got pulled over for speeding in that car once, and the highway patrolman didn't ding me for the front tint.

Of course, Pesti's car is lowered with 19" rims, clear corners, a big exhaust, front tint, and no front plate... so he probably triggers the cops "rice-alarm" and they take a closer look. The region has something to do with it, too. San Diego is less strict. Los Angles cops have bigger chips on their shoulder. Go up farther north to, say, Lancaster and the cops are just itchin' to give you a hard time.

But the bottom line, of course, is that it is illegal (dumb though I may think that law is). If they catch the fact that you're swapping cars to bypass the issue, you may get yourself in deeper, too. How much is it going to cost to re-tint the front? Can't be too much more than the $80 you're offering someone to use their car. Besides, if you keep using the same tint shop, you're bound to qualify for a preferred-customer discount after a couple more tickets. [img]/w3timages/icons/laugh.gif[/img]

haha..prefered customer discount.. I dont have a big exhaust though stock for me until nismo comes out in the US...

wreck: it was a local sheriffs office that busted me for no front plates and window tint..

Yeah ive thaught about removing the tint. taking it in..then putting the tint back on.. but i really dont wanna not be able to pull my windows down for 3 days agin while the tint sticks to the window.. Ive gotten pulled over a number of times in the G and no one has given me $hit about the tint.. I guess it depends on the cop... some care... some say hey your windows are tinted and you say OK and they dont cite you for it...
