Outside Temp Gauge

I live in Sacramento, CA and the last few days we have had 100+ Temperature days, and my gauge seems to read around 90 degrees! I park my vehicle outside all day long and when I go home around 5pm the temp only varies a couple of degrees difference, but I know danm well that it's over a 100 outside. Has anybody in hot area experience this problem in their G?

Re: Outside Temp Gauge

Call your dealer. I think there's a TSB out about the clocks.. if it continues to show an inaccurate temp after the engine is warmed up.

Re: Outside Temp Gauge

Hey another G owner from sacramento! Thats 11 total on this board!

But yes I have the same problem, the temp guage is always lower than the actual temperature, I don't trust the temp guage anymore for that reason.

Re: Outside Temp Gauge

What are you guys using to find your "Actual" temp?

All of the Cars on the lot were showing 100-112 the last two days depending on time of the day and location on the lot.

Re: Outside Temp Gauge

i have the same problem my temp sensor seems to be off by atleast 10 degrees. next visit to the dealer, i will definitely have them look into it. the erronous readings seem only to occur on extremely hot days.

Re: Outside Temp Gauge

I use the weather channel/news/readings on Electronic signs near banks.

Today for example, my car sat in heat (haha, I made a funny) for about 6 hours, when I got in it said 114, then I drove for a while, got into shade, drove again, and when I finally got home it said 107 degrees. Too hot, I don't think it reached 107 today, but I'll check the news later today.

So yes as the temps get higher, the readings are off more. Maybe it's too hard to figure out exact temps in cars, too many variables.

Re: Outside Temp Gauge

I have thought my car reads to low also. I live in the San Fernando Valley and it has been 95-100 recently. My car reads 87.
The TSB I have seen (on this board) regarding the Temp Sensor indicated the probem was "to high" a reading?
Well, it looks like some read to low also!! I will mention it at my next service.

Re: Outside Temp Gauge

This is what I have noticed with my temp gauge maybe someone can confirm. While my car is parked outside all day and the temps reach well over a 100 my reading will be around 95, but when I start moving and I'm on the road for a good 10-15 minutes my temp will read accurate or very close to the temp outside. I called the dealership to bring it in and by the time I got there the temp was reading was correct. This is very annoying, that I have to drive for a while before the damn temp gauge will read correctly. Has anybody gone to the dealership about this issue, and what did they do?

Thanks~eqAL1zer
