Newbie in Rowland Heights

Just bought my '03 Sedan 5at (silver/graph - Premium / Aero-Body / Sport / DVD).

Orginally went to Tustin. Loved the guy I was working with, but he moved on the day before I called to seal the deal. (he has since moved on to a Ferrari dealership) Passed me on to another guy. In between, I created multiple email accounts on hotmail and yahoo and played all the dealers against each other (also I could abandon the email addresses when I was done)

Took the best price back to Tustin. The deal was accepted (total time on their part to sell me the car at this point, 22min) Although there was a last minute hitch in the giddy-up where the old salesman had left out that I wanted an Aero Body (not just the Aero Kit) - therefore the price would be +tax and lic, not out the door. I was a little upset, but also knew that I was getting a pretty decent deal. (not sure what the etiquette on prices and dealer names is on this forum, so PM if you want to know). They did not have the car in stock and had to order it with a one day turn around & a $500 deposit. They were hot and heavy to get me back the next day to pick it up.... but then on Monday the sales guy was not avail in the evening and the other person would not be avail until Wed (that's 2 days now)...I got a little iffy on this, since it was their highest priority to get me back to sign the paperwork and take the car within 12 hours. Walked in on Tuesday looking to see if they had my car so I verify its existence. People scurried and looked at me wondering why I was there. People asked me what color it was, what was my name again.... Finally, after about 20 minutes, I was escorted to the back to look at my car. Guess what, it had Mission Viejo stickers on it (they had told me that they were sourcing it from L.A. "somewhere in the Valley") Since I am not from OC, Mission Viejo was one dealer I had not checked with.... too bad! But since I felt that I had gotten a really good price and was not in a super rush to get behind the wheel, I stuck it out. I would have to say that I was very happy with the way they treated me upon pick up. Actually better than any dealer I have ever dealt with 1 hour before they closed. Most places want to kick your rear out so they can go home. Tustin was very patient, if not methodic to a fault.

I highly recommend doing all your dealing via the internet - those that do not play ball online will not meet your needs in person. (and yes, I did shop Tustin via email under an assumed address)

And just a quick report on the drive home. As soon as I got on the 5N, I had a red Camaro SS on my butt swerving back and forth...mind you, I had only had the car 5 minutes. I punched it ---- buh-bye

Transistion to the 57N, some type of debadged-bondo/mod-rice-rocket-acura pulls up on me - - vroom, vroom (adding your own tinny whine here) As the guy throttles it ahead and drops it back egging me on.... Dropped gears and punched it using the tiptronic.....I didn't hear the guy crying cuz my stereo was blasting

Lastly, just passing the 91, still on the 57N I get a BMW that ran up on my rear REAL FAST. He jumped to the fast lane and ran up on the car next to me. Jumped back behind me - then the other car. Hey man, there's 5 lanes here... so I moved over to the 3rd lane to give him some room. He jumped over.. and I punched. I had the edge on him, that;s for sure...ran him up on some traffic at Lambert and waved bye-bye.

I can alrady tell that me and this car are going to get along just fine

Cheers, Ted

Real nice story. I've read other posts about MV Inifniti, and haven't heard anything bad about them. I just wish I was aware of MV before I bought my coupe. Confrontations? Yes you'll get them everyday, but try to keep in mind about your break-in period. Congrats on your new baby!

Re: Newbie in Rowland Heights

I didn't have a good experience with MV Infiniti. I received a belittling email from their Internet guy, which I will copy & paste below.

Dear Mr. Chang,

My name is James E. Camilleri, and I am the Sales Manager here at Infiniti of Mission viejo. I just wanted to let you know that your purchase request has been received, and I am working on finding the perfect vehicle for you. I am also the Cars Direct Authorized Dealer in Orange and San Diego Counties. (blah, blah blah)

I offer you my services in giving you a hassle free purchase or lease experience including one price shopping. If we don't have the G35 Sedan you are looking for in stock, I will do everything I can to find the vehicle at one of our other locations. (blah, blah blah)

I have either of these vehicles in stock. unfortunately you price is below my cost. If you want to get realistic I will sell the car for $ 31,600.00.

Thanks,

Jim

I was gonna reply "must not sell alot of cars, huh?", but instead I just bought my car at Costa Mesa Infiniti, for a little more than a grand off the price that he said I should get realistic with. Don't these salespeeps know that us carbuyers do our research before contacting them...

ps. Sorry to name names.. not sure what the policy was on that, but I wanted y'all to know who to deal or not deal with..

Anyways, that my 2 cents. laters, al
