Volks look great. Handling improves also with the wider tires(19x8.5, 19x9.5). I still get people stopping and telling me how sweet my 3 year old car looks. I have the merc silver GT-7's.

Two things though....if you don't use ceramic brake pads, start doing so. The brake dust off regular pads just sucks and you will be cleaning those wheels 3 times a week just to keep the dirt from building up. Also, if you live in an area with rough roads, your wheels are gonna get f---ed up. Pot holes at high speeds wreck havoc on the wheels with big lips. Mine are messed up pretty good.

Has nothing to do with durability. It has to do with proper care. If you purchased your Volks from an authorized dealer, they should have stressed the importance of only using mild soap and water on your Volks. Many Volks, including my GT-7s have an anodized lip. If any harsh chemicals are used on the lip or any attempt is made to polish the lips, the anodized finish will be irreparably damaged. A detailer damaged the anodized lip on my wheels last week. I just finished talking to 3 Volk dealers today as well as Mackin and 2 wheel repair shops. Looks like I have no choice but to replace the wheels. But it's all good. They are springing for 2 replacements for my rears

what tire size are you running? Bending rims is the one thing that is causing me to rethink getting bigger than average lip on the wheels.

19*8.5, 19*9.5 GT-7's

I've hit a couple pot holes real hard...mostly due to effed up slow Los Angeles drivers(20mph in a 40 mph zone)...when I go to pass them, I tend

It bends the lip a bit.

well I know that, but unfortunately my roommate didnt, and "helped me out" by shining my tires while I was overseas. they were ruined before I even saw them for the first time.

I thought about that, but its the rim that is ruined, not the spokes. powdercoating the entire wheel would look weird. I'm moving to CA next month, so there will be plenty of places out there that can repair them.

Which wheel do you have?

I have the SF-Winnings and they are a two piece wheel and they can be taken apart. Some day when my wheels are looking rough I will have the spokes painted to match the car and a chrome or polished color for the lip.
