Has anyone else found the brakes in the 6MT sedan kind of grabby on intial bite? When heel-toe downshifting it seems unusually difficult to keep steady brake pressure. Has anyone else tried other pads? Any that provide good bite and feel without that harsh initial grab?

After the first 1 or 2K miles, the grabbiness does decrease, and you (your feet) will get acclimated to the brake feel as well. It's an initial concern shared by most owners that disappeared quickly as time went by.

Apart from the dust and sometimes premature wear (not my experience), most of us wouldn't trade our brakes for the world.

Just remember to be careful when you drive another car after you’ve gotten used to the G’s grabby brakes. You don’t want to slide through any intersections or stop signs!

Heel and toeing is definitely a challenge. I don't think pads will make much difference though. I have Metal Matrix (from Stillen) in the back, since I fried them on a track weekend. Haven't noticed any difference.

 

i lent a friend my 2002 mazda pickup. it only has 10,000 on it. when he took it, he in turn left me his olsmobile custom cruiser. probably 10 yrs old.

well, i had to pick up something big, so i took his car. between the mazda and the G, i couldn't get used to his brakes.

i felt like i was sailing a cruise ship and trying to stop it in water.

when i tested the G, i had some "quick" stops. now i am fine with it.

i much prefer stopping when i want to, not preparing 100 yds away.
