Smile Hopefully the LAST offset question!

Hey folks, sorry for YET another offset question but I'm going nuts trying to sort through all the information on this site (can't seem to piece together a straight answer, even with wheel fitment chart/website!)

I bought a black 2004 G35 Sedan (with stock 17's) last week and would like to upgrade the rims to 19" ASAP (leaning towards HP Racing Evo's in Black Gloss). I do NOT want to alter the suspension or 'roll' the fenders or do any other modifications to the car in any way whatsoever.

So the magic question is...what's the OPTIMAL offset for the following rim widths, so there is NO CHANCE of rubbing?

8.0 Front = ?
8.0 Rear = ?
8.5 Front = ?
8.5 Rear = ?
9.0 Rear = ?
9.5 Rear = ?

These are all to be 19" rims - for conservatism I want to be sure there is NO CHANCE of rubbing the fender wells.

Hope this is a more interesting question for you super-users (like Cru), cheers guys.

-Pete

If you want no chance of rubbing...
8" Front and Rear... +35
8.5" Front and Rear... +38 to +43
9.0" Rear... +43ish?
9.5" Rear... +43 to +48

Chico... Correct me if i'm wrong since you're the offset master.

The 9.5's in the rear might still rub if your fenders are not rolled/cut.

Front and rear use the same offset with the same wheel width. An 8.5" wheel is the widest you can fit in the front and a 10" wide wheel is the widest you can fit in the rear.

Using 8.5/+35 as the control and inputting these wheel sizes into the offset calculator ( http://marksink.com/tire_wheel_offset/offset.html ) here are the most aggressive offsets you can run:

8 = +29
8.5 = +35
9 = +41
9.5 = +48*
10 = +54

*There are sedans that are running +45 here without rubbing.

Keep in mind that these calculations do not take into account tires, only wheels.

Chico, what do you think of these figures?

Great info Cru but it's worth mentioning the recommended tire sizes.

8" +30 w/ 235 tire. anything wider will rub for sure

8" +35 w/ 235 to 245 tire

8.5" +35 to +38 with 245 tire

9" +40 to +45 with 265 to 275 tire

9.5" +43 to +45 with 275 tire

10" +45 with 275 tire. eventhough the rim is larger, the tire will sit inside the fender lip just as if you had mounted it on the 9.5". the only difference you will see, is that the tire has a slight stretch.

the above fitments are practical for everyday driving and will be flushed with the fenders WITHOUT modifications at all.

The offsets would be the same for 17" rims right?

How about the offset for a width of 7.5?

Guys thanks a ton, I appreciate the help - this is exactly what I needed. Longshot question - does anyone know the of some good black gloss rims (w/silver lip and rivets) that would be 19 x 8.5" with a 35-38 offset??

the ones i have are an exact match to the HP EVOs you're looking at. ADRs M Classics. You can check them out at www.bigwheels.net they come in +35 but the 9.5" will not fit in the back properly without rolling fenders. I already asked that question here. Here's a pic of mine. By the way, these have machined polished lips, not chrome. I believe the HP EVOs are the same, polished lip not chrome.
