Upsizing Tires

Hey All!

Anyone have opinions on upsizing tires for Coupe? I have a 6mt with the 19s. I notice that you can purchase 245/35-19 front 275/35-19 rears which will fit. These are obviously larger than stock.

Any reason why you would not do this? There are so many more choices than the stock tire sizes, and they are cheaper. So very strange. I searched around a bit but didn't find an conclusive opinions or facts on why you wouldn't use the larger tires.

Thanks!

I heard that when you go a lot wider for the rim, it's easier to get blisters in the sidewalls, or air bubbles when you hit a pothole pretty hard or something.

any chance you kept track of your gas milage before and after the tire upsize? I'm curious to know what kinda loss to expect in going w/ more rubber on the road.

Zero change...why would there be a loss? Your getting more rubber, better traction, and a lighter tire than factory overall.

Your also getting a much quieter tire...you'll just love them!!

Did the larger tires reduce the road noise at all? I'm considering larger tires next time as well.

The Michelin PS2's did that...the best tires you can buy for traction and road noise...hands down.

I just recently bought some OEM 19s for my 03 coupe and went with the bigger tires myself. I have had them for 2 weeks and I do like the ride. I bought Bridgestone Potenza RE050 off of tire rack because it was the best deal I could find. Two of the tires were on closeout and I got the set of 4 for around $875, which no place where i live could come remotely close to that price.

Yep - one of the noisiest rides out there...Toyo isn't bad....but 1/2 way through the tread the silence and comfort just go away - but at 1/2 the cost of the Michelins....
