Need new rear tires...should I also get new fronts?

Hi guys,

I was told at 29K miles that I need new rear tires...that must be some kind of a record! I hear people go through tires every 15K or so, so I count myself lucky Though my rear tires are in need of replacing, my front tires still have a couple of hundred miles on them (probably wishful thinking). Question: Am I violating some rule if I just have my rear tires replaced for now? It would be a shame to replace the front tires since they don't look as worn as the rears. What's the general idea behind tire changing? Do it all now, or only replace the tires that are worn? Your input greatly appreciated, oh might board members.

It's ok to replace just 2 but it sounds like you need all 4.
