EBC Rotors

EBC Rotors
EBC has slotted and dimpled rotors for the G sedan. Has anyone used these rotors? If so, are they a quality rotor? Any improvement in stopping versus factory rotors? They are priced very reasonably at $186.00/pair, but I am wondering about their performance versus Stillen's and other cross-drillen/slotted rotors.

Re: EBC Rotors
Cross-drilling weakens a rotor, and can cause them to crack under heavy use. EBC's approach gives you the cross-drilled "look" without the cons. Slotted rotors w/o cross-drilling are all you need, from a performance standpoint, if you even need that -- which you probably don't unless you're taking it to the track.
You're not going to improve your stopping distance with rotors, or even pads for that matter. You'll only be able to improve your brake's ability to resist fading and cool back down more quickly. Better tires can help you stop faster.
Aren't all rotors made out of cast iron?

Re: EBC Rotors
I have to disagree with the previous post, respectfully of course. I just put a set of Hawk HPS front pads on my wife’s sedan. They do not have the initial "grab" at low speeds that the stock pads have, which in my opinion is great. While "bedding" the pads in, I did notice a more aggressive braking curve from 45mph, which feels like it will shorten stopping distances overall. As for rotors, my understanding is that the Stillen rotors have a larger surface area, which will improve stopping distances from greater heat dissipation. You may not feel any improvement in stop and go traffic depending on your driving style, but will feel an improvement during any “spirited” driving. As for cracking, I have yet to see a cross drilled rotor crack, has anyone personally seen one? I think that came from the marketing department of the guys who manufacture the “slotted” rotors. Tires always make a difference, again depending on driving style, your either going to spend the money on a performance tire and feel better grip all around or another set of OEM replacements, if all you do is go from point A to point B.
FYI, the wife, a commuter, says she loves the “feel” of the new brakes.

Re: EBC Rotors
I think you have to race at a track to stress them enough to crack them.. but cross-drilling weakens the rotor. I don't think it's the marketting guys... the companies that say slotted rotors are good enough also sell cross-drilled rotors.
Anyway, the original question was whether or not the EBC rotors were good enough. I don't think the fact that they're not truly cross-drilled hurts their performance one bit.
