Sedans w/19X8 wheels, need offset/tire size help..
I'm looking at 19X8 RO_JA Formula5. I have three options...
19x8 5x114.3 +45
19x8 5x114.3 +38
19x8 5x114.3 +25
I believe a 245/40/19 is appropriate.
Can you guy with Sedans and 19X8s share your tire and offset sizes, along with if the car is lowered, how low and do you have any rubbing issues?
Thanks

Re: Sedans w/19X8 wheels, need offset/tire size help..
zimbo,
Is +45 still the ideal offset if the wheel is 1" wider? Does this mean the wheel will be 1" closer to the suspension? Following this theory, if a lower offset is used the suspension clearance can me maintained, even with the wider wheel. Of course, the wheel will stick out further, possibly even past the fender. Is this correct?
Thanks and take care,

I have 245/35/20's with 20x8.5's. The overall height is the same as 245/40/19's. I have a 38mm backspace with no rubbing at all, and I'm not lowered. The fitment is perfect...

Thanks to all for the Help. I called the dealer in Dallas Texas for RO_JA, and he says...
19X8 +25mm.
What is the stock 17" wheel offset? And the offset is still the distance from the center line of the wheel to the back face of the mounting area, right?

stock wheel is 17x7 +45 Offset.
I think that +42 on a 19" wheel is the most extreme you should go. Gaklid's offset are too wide IMO. I don't think that looks very good and prevents very high loads in the rear. The fender is directly over the wheel. +42 or +40 with rolled fenders should be ok

I was looking at you E.T. Nice! 14.1 @103 is real nice.
I'm still not exactly convinced on the 19X8 though. RO_JA site says...
19x8.0 +25 245X 98 65 25 (F)
19x10 +30 245X 91 65 30 (R)
I'll be getting 19X8 all around. Then again this might be applications for the coupe model. Any idea if the coupe model has a different offset? I think I'll have to wait tilll I lower the car first. Thanks for all the great help and guidence.

The coupe does have a different offset on the rear wheels. It is the sedan that should have the same all around, but that is really not the way to go for atotal "pimp" setup if you know what I mean. Staggered looks great and is more functional. I would ake sure to pick the correct tire sizes not to deviate from the stock ones too muhc, and if you do, make sure the diameters of the front/rears are very close (within 1%) if not identical.
Use this calculator. Plug in our stock values, which are 215x55x17 and your desired tire size to see the difference. Also, use the wheel offset calulator to judge how much more the new wheel will stick out.
from my countless hours of research, I came up iwht the following setup, which I consider the most aggressive one you can have for the sedan: Front: 19x8.5x(+44 to +46) with 245-35/19, Rear: 19x9.5x(+40 to +42) with 285-30/19(or if it looks to bulbish, 275-30/19).
Enjoy, hope this helps.

Good, so the 19x8 +45 fronts will basically add .5" on eather side of the stock 7" wide wheel. What you said makes sense now!
As for the rear, what is offered is a 19X10 +45 or +30. The +45 would add 1.5" to either side of the factory wheel width. This is way too wide. Although if possible it would look ultra sharp!
None the less you have shed the light on the wheel dilema. I think all who read this thread will see the light too. Thanks alot and God Bless ya'!
OH.. BTW, any idea if the Sprint Spring (1.75") are progressive or linear? Also do the HKS Coilovers come with dust protectors i=on the strut shaft. Does a true coil over system totally kill the comfort aspect of any car?

Don't know about the spring rate. But I would definitely go for 9.5" int eh rear rather than 10". You are not gonna see any difference, can fit about the same tire width on it, no rubbing issues, and most importantly, a MUCH WIDER selection of wheels.

I don't know what picture you're looking at, but my fenders are not directly over my wheels! My tires are just inside the fenders, and look aggressive without sticking out of the fenders. The rims just look wider because they're "brighter" in the picture. I'm also trying to figure out how a offset can be too wide and how my fitment prevents very high loads in the rear. Could you explain? I can definately tell you that offset-wise, I have more space between the tire and the fender than I do the tire and suspension...

gaklid.
I am sorry if I was wrong, my apologies. From the pic posted it looked like the tires were directly under the fenders. Again, my bad if I misread the picture.
Can you please give me your width and offset numbers. I (as we all) would probabaly benefit from a close up that shows the fender line and the tire placement.
Gurgen.

Re: Sedans w/19X8 wheels, need offset/tire size help..
thanks
so by backspace you mean offset? and they are the same for front and rears?...
Also, and this would be extremely helpful to me, how much space do you have between the wheel/tire and the upper suspension in the rear inside of the wheel?
Thanks a million
