Question Mixing Front/Rear Tires

So here's my dilemma. I bought my 04 X with 20k miles on it. Right now I have 25k on it and I just found out my front driver's front tire has a small finishing nail right by the sidewall and tread. So this means it cannot be patched, or at least a patch wouldn't hold. It loses about 10 psi a week. I also found out that my fronts only have 4/32's left, while my rears have 8/32. Right now it has stock Goodyear RS-A's. I don't know if the previous owner happened to get 2 new tires at some point, or if the whole "rotating tires" concept was foreign to them. Either way, I need at least 2 more tires. I was looking at getting the Yokohama Avid V4S, which seems decently priced and you guys seem to think they are decent based on a couple searches. Now the main question: Is it OK to have a different set of front tires and rear tires? Am I going to run into issues doing this, mainly having rotating issues because it is a directional tread on the Yokohama's? I would like to get 5 new tires (4 main and the spare), but I can't really justify throwing away the rears with 8/32 of tread left, even if they are crappy RS-A's What do you guys think?
