LM-22 Blizzak experience

I went to a local tire shop and ask them if they have a good machine to mount tires without scratching the wheels and they said that they have a MAC machine, i dont know what it means but he said that its a good machine so I took my chance and replace my tire there, they did a good job without scratching the wheels and they use a thin socket to remove the lug nuts, my first impression about the LM-22's is its very quiet but I can tell the difference between the stock pilot sport and this one, the stock gives me a slight better handling on dry road and more control but for the price of the pilot sport I'm not going to buy the same tire again. I'm impressed when these snow tires it performs like a regular summer tire, also my other wheel arrived and I will be mounting the stock tire on it and I will again change back to the stock tires since its still too early for winter tires. I purchase this impact wrench, see link.

, do you guys think its good to make a quick wheel change? I have no experience with impact wrenches but this one has an adjustable torque..

I'd be scared to use that thing. It could do a number on the nut wells. Good news about the LM-22s since those are the same tires I bought. But I wouldn't consider them in the same category handling wise. You would kill the rubber on those tires attempting to approach the limit of the pilot sports.

Re: LM-22 Blizzak experience

thx man, I know that its easy to scratch the wheel but I will be careful , the question is is this sufficient to remove the lugnuts? I have to wrap the socket with a plastic tape to prevent scratches and also use a thin socket if i can find one..

Re: LM-22 Blizzak experience

according to http://www.tirerack.com/installer/package_install.html

"Step 2: When removing lug nuts or bolts, never use powered impact wrenches of any type. It’s best to carefully remove lugs with a four-way wrench or a socket on a breaker bar. An impact wrench may damage the lugs."

I'm about to buy this: http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/...&storeId=10101

Anyone use this particular torque wrench before? I bought the craftsman one for $70, but returned when I realized it was a 90 day warrantee (NOT lifetime!) and read reports of it dying after a year or so.

Twlight blue/Willow 6mt on order. Options: Sunroof.

Plus, if you put lug nuts back on with an impact wrench, it's very easy to cross-thread and strip the lug nuts and/or lug bolts.

Re: LM-22 Blizzak experience

thx for the input,
ryoken, I'm not going to use the wrench to thread the lug nuts, I will manualy thread using my fingers enough to have a good thread and this impact drive have an adjustable torque which I can set to the recommended torque of 90 ft/lb..remember I'm only 5'4" and 125 lbs, i sh#t my pants after removing 20 lug nuts LOL

Re: LM-22 Blizzak experience

With the LM-22s you trade some snow traction for a quieter ride as opposed to the WS-50s which are awesome in the snow but a bit noisier.
