Hey All,
In regards to offsets, is the higher offset, say +40, going to move the rim closer to the inside of the fender or closer to the outside of the fender? From the charts and what I have read, it should be closer to the inside but I am not 100% sure. I have no real experience with this stuff.
I am thinking about getting an 18x8 rim with a +40 offset front and rear with a 245/45-18 tire. The tire is almost .5in larger in diameter than the stock 17's but I am doing this because my car is scraping the exhaust when I back out of the driveway now. If i ran a slightly smaller diameter setup (245/40-18) I will scrape even more, correct? . I am running the unrevised 350z springs too. I have read the charts and looked at the diagrams (I am a little slow) and it looks ok to me but I would like to hear that from you experienced guys.

Run a 245/45/18, its only 1.4% too large, while a 245/40/18 is 2.3% too small, so the larger size is closer to the stock size while giving you a hair more clearance for your exhaust. You are correct, as the offset increases, the wheel gets closer to the inside of the wheel well and away from the outside edge of the fender

One other question, will a +40 offset with that rim and tire cause any issues with rubbing on the inside?

This is a pic of my 245-45-18 tires with +38 offset and the 350Z spring drop. It does get close with a full load in the back, but has not rubbed. Without the drop, there should be plenty of room.
