Difference Between pilot sport and PS2's
Hi, could someone tell me what the difference is between the Michelin Pilot sport tires and the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires.
|
Pilot Sport 1's are pretty much obsolete to the 2's. PS2's have a different tread pattern with the outside shoulder being a softer compound as well (very basic info but the PS2's have better dry and wet performance), they have AMAZING grip. I have PS1's on my GT2 and they arent too good , but it also depends on your usage!
If you dont have a high hp/tq car, it really shouldnt matter, PS1's are still good! |
I have ps1's on there right now. I need to change the rears. Would it be bad to mix and match?

The sidewall of the PS1 is too soft. I couldn't believe how flimsy the sidewall was of the OEM 245/18s. Def. leads to a lot of body roll in corners.
I can't speak to how stiff 245/18 PS2s are, but the 225/18 PS2s that I felt were very stiff. I think the PS1s are more of a compromise for those wanting some sport with some luxury, hence why they were chosen as an OEM tire for a sports/luxury coupe. |
Would it be bad to have ps1's on the fronts and ps2's on the rears?
|
Ideally you shouldn't run 2 different sets of tires. The ride will handle a little weird, esp if the 2 sets have different characteristics. But if you had too, I would definately put the ps2s on the rear. They're a good all around tire. Had them on my Maxima.

does michelin make the ps2's for the oem offset 19's??
