Buying new wheels and tires but need some help please.

2005 G35 sedan, sport with 350Z springs so its a little lower than the stock sport setup.

I decided I want new wheels so I can go with a staggered setup. Im sticking with 18 so the fronts will be 245/40-18 but Im not sure about the rears. What size wheel and tire will work best on the rear? 265s? I'm not sure just how wide I can go.

Also what offsets do I need for the front and rear? I want to make sure I have all the information in front of me when I call to order everything.

The wheels I'm looking at buying:

I like the Rial as it's a shiny satin.

That's part of the original post. I'm "asking" for input on what the size of the rear wheels should be.

"What size wheel and tire will work best on the rear?"

well you can't figure out tire size before you do the rim....so maybe a 18x8.5F 9.5R with 245 and 275? thats whats im using...thats for a setup without a stretch on the tire. if you want more a stretch go with a 235 265...as far as offsets ya gotta ask the sedan guys but im pretty sure its in the high 30's

you can also search for "wheels" in sedan forum and see what guys are currently using, and just check out pics of their cars and take it from there.

It looks like you're working backwards towards your solution.

If you're not getting custom made wheels, than you are unfortunately limited in offsets. The optimal setup for an 18" wheel and tire package is 18x8.5" F +35 and 18x9.5" R +45 with 245/45/18 and 275/40/18.

From here, you can start looking for wheels which have the specs above...

Those offsets look good. I would be looking more at a 225-45/ 255-40 combination. Also 235-45/ 265-40.

vodkarocket pretty much nailed it with all the info you need. BTW, I don't think Rial makes wheels in the right bolt pattern.

This is what I was looking for. Thanks.

I would really like to stay away from a 45 series tire, especially on a 8.5" wide front wheel. I'm afraid that there will be too much flex in the sidewall compared with the rear. What's your thoughts on that? Do you think that the 45 series tire will be stretched a bit with a 8.5" wide wheel so there would be less flex?

But that being said those sizes balance out perfectly and would keep me within the OEM specs for tire diameter.

Actually they do but no in an 18"

So I may have to go with the ASA since they offer that wheel in an 18". I'm just not sure on what wheel widths they offer. I will find out on Monday when I call Tire Rack.

it will only be stretched if you go with a smaller width like 235 or 225

^ Exactly. Aren't the stock tire sizes 235/35/18? A 245 width tire would fit an 8.5" wheel perfectly- I ran 245 on an 8" wheel and it still looked great.

I have 245 45 18's on the stock sport rims and they look and handle great. Stock is 235 45 18.

Stock on the sport model is 235/45-18. Again, thanks for the info. I'm calling Tire Rack tomorrow and see what is available.
