Anyone using NITTO NT 555 Extreme Performance tires?
I would like to hear if any members are using this tire and what their opinion is on it. I have 18" Sedan OEM Sport wheels that I need to purchase tires for. I am thinking of going with a 245/45/18 size. I do not plan to lower the car.
These tires seem like a good deal.

I have driven on these tires and I'll share my experience and opinion with you. I have an '04 Coupe 6 speed, Sport package, 18's, etc. My first replacement of the stock Michelin's left me in a bit of sticker shock at > $700.00 installed for the two rears. I loved everything about how the Michelin's performed except for the wear and the replacement cost. With that in mind, I opted to go for the Nitto NT 555's to save some scratch. They weren't bad for city driving, however, at highway speeds of 70 mph, they felt very spongy. I always felt like the rear end of the car would "walk" a little bit and the sponginess did not instill a whole lot of confidence in the car's newfound poorer handling. Strangely enough, I didn't feel safe riding on them. I took the car back to discount tire after less than a week and paid the cost to upgrade back to the stock Michelin Pilots. It was about a $200 upgrade but in my opinion, it was WELL worth it. With the Michelin's, my Coupe just feels solid, like it's glued to the pavement. I'm not sure if you have the sport package on your Sedan or not so your experience may or may not vary as the suspension setup is a little bit different.
I hope that helps in your decision.
Best,
Matt

My 03.5 sedan does not have the sports suspension. I will primarily be driving the car on a long highway commute of 100 miles a day. Thanks for your feedback

I have them in size 275/30/20 and 245/35/20. The rears went completely bald after 8,000 miles of mostly normal driving (no tracking,drifting,burnouts)- very unacceptable for a tire with a 300 UTQG treadwear grade. I contacted Nitto and they agreed that this was a unique case of premature tire wear so they gave me 50% off the price of a new rear set that I just had installed today.
If treadlife (400 UTQG), all weather capability and 40,000 mile warranty are important to you, I recommend Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS pole positions. Buy them from discount tire with the Certificate of free replacement too.

I used to have Nitto 555 with my 20" rims - they only lasted about 10K miles for me, replaced twice, very soft and worn out quickly. They were very loud when the threads as the thread wearing down quickly. The sidewall was very soft, I backed up and hit a brick on a low planter, took a chunk out of the sidewall - only had the tire for one day and had to replace it - expensive.
I did a 360 on the I-5 during the rain because I didn't realized the tires were totally bald at only 10K miles. Too soft and only on dry surface, horrible on wet roads. Now I'm using Falken 452, the best in handlish, strong sidewall, wears, excellent dry and wet surface.
