225/45-18 on 18" sport wheel?

Just wondering if anybody is running a 225/45-18 (replacing OEM 235/45-18) on the OEM 18x7.5" sport wheels.

As we all know, OEM size selection is limited. I've been considering the Kumho SPT in 235/45-18, but they are backordered at Tire Rack.

My other consideration is the Falken FK-452 in the 225/45-18

Any downside to "downsizing" to the 225/45?

#1 downside is traction/performance. I would move up to a 245.

Not sure I completely understand tire sizes but won't the 225 be way too short? I've seen guys install the 245/45/18's which are somewhat taller than OEM but seem to fit well. Also, with the 245's you'll have a better selection of brand and price.

I have 245/45/18x8.5 with a +38 offset on my car. It increases the the overall wheel diameter by 1.5%, which is acceptable. It won't cause issues with VDC and it does not rub or scrape. The only issue you may have is the rim not being wide enough but I am not sure on that.

You could always run a 245/40.

18X7.5" wheel is the minimum to run a 245/45/18. that is the size i plan to go to when i blow these bridgestones off.

I'm in the same boat, '05 Sedan with the sport 18's. I tried to get the Kumho 235's but nobody has them anymore. So I'm getting Dunlop Direzza 245/45's put on this week. I considered the 245/40's but I think it leaves too much space between the tire and wheel well. My car is not lowered, it has the stock suspension. I can post pics after the install if you're interested.

Dallasg,

Please post pics of your tires on the wheels. I just bought the 05 sedan sport wheels and I am on the fence on which size tire to buy. I am not looking to lower my car but I don't want to much fender gap. I am leaning towards the Toyo TR1's in 245/45/18.

Please post... i just got a set of Nismo/Rays 57F's in 18x8.5 ET45 and would like to see if the 245/45 will look right

I believe the sport 18s are also ET45 but some cars dont look like the offset is the same, though its the same wheel... might just be pictures, but who knows.

Huh? The oem 18's are 18x8 all around. Stock tire sizes are 225/45 front and 245/45 rear. Looks fine to me.

That must be coupe specs. At least the 06 sedans are 18X7.5

Oh, ok. Well, 225/45 on my fronts looks pretty stretched. So on a 7.5 rim, it should look perfect.
