front vs rear brake dust

1) Is it normal to have more brake dust in the front ? If so, why ? Shouldn't we have more in the rear because the car is RWD ?
2) which pads wear out faster, front or rear ?
Thanks

Re: front vs rear brake dust

answer 1) yes, the front wheels do all the braking, being rear wheel drive has nothing to do with it.
answer 2) good question normally the front do, but i have heard some cases of g35 rear brakepads wear ing out first due to the VDC. if you want your rims not to get dirty in the front get yourself some ceramic brake pads. satisfied pro has a set for the 5at model for $37 from tire rack.

How do the ceramic pads wear, any better than EOM? I will be having the dealer check mine until the 36/36k runs out though!

Wait, when did you buy your car? I got mine in October, I have brake dust, actually, it's not a lot worse than it was on my Mustang GT, hmmmm, I wonder why you have none?

i bought my car in november of 2003. i have no brake dust because i switched to ceramic pads way before the brake warranty was issued. the ceramic pads are why my rims stay clean.

Oops, sorry, I got that wrong AntRock, I thought you meant you had your car that long, not the ceramic pads, I stand corrected!

Re: front vs rear brake dust

How much do ceramic pads cost? Is it worth changing just to lessen the dust on the rims? Do ceramics last longer?

Thanks.

For Pete's sake!

Whizzer, the 2nd post in the thread says the cost.

Do a search for "ceramic pads" . The wear/dust issue has been covered before.

Also look at www.freshalloy.com. They have a forum for G35 as well, which has also covered this issue. You can search past posts there too.
