OEM 19's on, now brake problems?
Hey all, I just got a set of OEM 19s put on my car along with brand new 255/40 (rear) and 235/35 (front) Falken 452s at Discount Tire. On my way home (45mins) I noticed that the brakes felt weird. The pedal is pretty stiff and when I brake moderately hard the pedal has a slight feeling like when the ABS activated.
Anybody know what could be happening? |
can you see any clearance issues? best to not mess around
if brakes are feeling weird..get it looked at ASAP;) |
i think you need to bleed the brake oil
|
anyone else?
|
try swapping back to your stock wheels and seeing if that corrects the problem.
|
well, I had some 19s on there before so I dont think that would be it, i dont have the stockers...
I guess Ill take it to a brake place |
maybe it has nothing to do with the wheels or tires.... get em checked out man ASAP
|
Its just weird because they were fine before I went to Discount, then the second I drove it off the lot and used the brakes I noticed how weird they felt (less than 1/8 mile)
I took it to Meinake (sp?) today, they said come back tomorrow. Took it to Discount Tire and they checked the torque of the lugs out and made sure the 8.5 were on the back and the 8.0 were up front. I drove it around after that and brakes still feel weird :( |
Did they put the wheels on with an impact wrench? May have f'ed your rotors... I think that's how I destroyed my left-rear one... over-torqued the lugnuts....
|
I think they did... How can I tell?
|
Well, I was driving to school this morning, and when I was on the highway the following dash lights came on:
ABS SLIP VDC OFF I really hope my rotors arent messed up. |
if the lugs were over torqued you might have warped the rotors which is why you would feel the pulsating effect on the brake pedal, as to the pedal feeling STIFF. THAT COULD BE A BIG PROBLEM, NOT SAYING IT IS BUT YOU MUST GET IT CHECKED.
|
Taking it to the Dealer tomorrow morning to get it checked out :)
Thanks for the help guys! |
Infiniti techs said that my brake problems are due to the new tires:
255/40/19 on the rear 235/35/19 on the front Sound legit? |
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
255/40-19 4.0in 13.5in 27.0in 84.9in 746 0.0% 235/35-19 3.2in 12.7in 25.5in 80.0in 792 -5.8% Looks like it. The two tire's diameters should be within about 5% of each other. Looks like you are over that. So the vdc thinks you are constantly slipping therefore appling the brakes. |
