20 or 19 inch? Ride quality, wear, etc.

Hi Guys

I'm debating whether to get 20" or 19" rims on my G35c. I love the look of 20's but my concern is how harsh will the ride be on 35 profile tires?

I live in Toronto, Ontario and there are some potholes, what is the likeliness of a pothole causing damage to the rim? I don't want to spend the money on 20's only to be back at the shop in a couple of months due to rim damage.

Im currently riding on dinky 18's on 40 profile tires.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

For the Toronto roads, I would suggest you to stick with 19s"

Consider this.. 245/35/19 and 245/35/20 have the same amount of sidewall for cushion. I have 255/35/20 in front for a bit more sidewall, but its almost nothing.

I've had both 20 and 19 and to me the ride quality isn't that much different. I just switched to 19's more for performance, but I sure do miss my 20's

currently i have 20's and i love them. i live in co and the roads are terrible, as long as you miss the major potholes you shouldn't have a problem

I'm going with 20's this week. Not much of a difference over
19's IF YOU hit a pothole.

I have nice roads..BUT..anything could happen

I had 18s and went to 20s and the ride quality was barely noticeable. The biggest determinent in the ride quality is going to be the tires.

Personally I think 19s fit the car better size wise, but round these parts bigger is better.... bastards peer pressured me haha

19's hands down.

20's = [usually] heavier, worse ride, not to mention a greater impact on performance.

Plus, I believe 19's are the perfect size for the coupe.

whatis the point of getting 20's over 19's? is it just to say you are riding 20's?

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I've ordered 20" Sevas S-22's. They will be wrapped on 35 profile tires (275 in the back and 245 in the front).

One last question, I opted for the 35 profile over 30 for the extra cushioning. My question is, i've noticed some people have gone 35 profile in the front and 30 profile in the back. Is there any reason for this? Or should 35 front 35 back look ok?

Some opt for the lower profile at the rear to maintain as close to the OEM diameter as possible.
