Toyo T1R's vs. Yokohama AVS ES100's
I'm getting some Sevas S-55's for my G coupe, and I'm trying to decide between
Toyo T1R's and Yokohama AVS ES100's. What do you guys think? I know the Yokohama's are less expensive, but do they hold up as well, and are they as good of quality and performance? |
The Toyos are very popular here. You might also want to check out the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx. Great tires!

I've got the Yokohamas and wouldn't reccomend them. They road noise is high and when the road is wet I don't feel comfortable with them. When leaving a stoplight, on a wet road, if I give it any more than a little bit of gas they spin, it's annoying. I've had them on for 17,000 miles and still have a lot of tread left so I guess that is one thing they have going for them.

toyos.............

i just got a fresh set of toyos yesterday and i lovem, personally i think they look the best especially if you get that wrapped looked but thats dependant on the widths you're getting, i say go toyo, but let it be known stock tires are much better.
|
I had the Yokos as well. They were ok for typical point A to point B driving. If you want performance I would recommend the Toyos if you cant afford something better.
|
Are you sure the stock tires are better than the Toyo's??? I hate my stock tires!!!

You might want to check this link out:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...ay.jsp?ttid=69 Download the pfd, compares 11 max performance summer tires, I was leaning towards Bridgestone Potenzas RE050A Pole Positions or Michelin Pilot PS2s but the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tires in 245/45/18s are on sale on tirerack for $120 each which was too good of a price for me to pass up and they did score alright according to this review. |
having had both the yokos and the toyos, i can say that the yokos are def bang for the buck although it's very loud...it peformed well in wet and dry and the tread lasts longer than the toyos. however, i'd pay a little more and get the t1r's. jmho.

everywhere i look i see that toyo has a considerably better treadwear rating... is the treadwear rating bs? |

they both have ratings of 280 but i got more miles out of my yokos. |
Love my T1-R's. I am running 225/245 on OEM 19's. They look great as well.
|
I highly recommend Toyo T1Rs over Yokohama ES100... I recommend them to most of my customers unless they are looking for a cheaper alternative and dont mind sacrificing performance.
Now if Advan Neovas were available in decent sizing in the US, Id say go for them instead. But thats not the case. |
