All 4 same size tires on coupe
Hi All,
I was wondering what ppl thought about running 245/45/R18 on all four corners. This way I can rotate my tires from front to back rather than having bald tires at the back and 2 good tires in front. Questions that came up while searching on the forums:
1. will running wider tires in front look bad?
2. will this cause problems with my VDC? (currently I have my winters as non-staggered and this hasn't caused any issues)
3. I am thinking of getting Falkens FK452. Any comments on this tire selection?
Thanks in advance,
Alan

Personally, I wouldn't do it. The car was designed and tested with a specific staggered setup, so changing things wouldn't be ideal.
I don't find the need for rotating tires a big issue. Yes, the front tires will probably have good tread left by the time the rears are done, but then you can just buy a 2 rears of the same tire and keep the fronts on longer.

rotating tires is overrated, as others have said, buy 2 new rears when the time comes. As for the VDC issue, it depends is the answer. Some people have been able to get away with it while others haven't. This is only during normal driving also, at the limits of adhesion, tire sizes come more into play and wreak havoc on the VDC in that situation. Since the wheels are all 18x8, its okay to put 245's on all four corners in the situation.

I've already passed this by my service manager and he thought it might be feasable. However, I would make sure of the clearance in the fronts with the larger tires. I have stock 17s. I'm doing the exact same thing next week but am not planning on rotating the tires. I would be rotating if the rims were both 8" instead of 7.5 and 8" . I'm placing the same size fronts 225/50/17s on my rear (down one size from 235). The rear rims are 8" instead of the front 7.5" so the actually tread width is only down .4" and overall diameter is also down .4". I'm trying to get a better spread on the tire footprint with the smaller tire in order to alleviate the excessive rear middle wear. My service manager is going to allow me to switch rims and tires from another car to see how it looks before I actually mount the new tires and give it a drive to check the VDC. He doubts very much the VDC will be affected and handling should be about the same for a conservative driver. I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks for all the responses! So it looks like I should lean towards just staying with staggered.
So, since I do have quite a bit of tread left on my front tires...what opinions do you guys have for riding with my stock Michelins pilot sports on the front and getting some different rear tires (I just want to kill the remaining tread I have on the fronts). I'm not an aggresive driver, so would this setup be feasible?
