No Warranty on Chrome Rims
No Warranty on Chrome Rims
Just so this isn't off topic, I love my G35. That said, I'd like to share with you about an experience a friend had with his QX4. If the dealer service manager is correct (doubtful) it probably applies to G35 owners as well. This happened a couple days ago. My friend has a 2002 QX4 and it’s under full warranty. Three of his chrome rims cracked all the way through. He discovered this when he was having a flat repaired by AAA and was told not to drive the car because the cracks went all the way through the rims. He could see the cracks in the chrome. He immediately took the car into Infiniti of Thousand Oaks (CA) and spoke to the service manager. She gave him a very hard time and told him there was nothing they could do because when the rims are chromed you loose the warranty on them. She understood that the car was purchased new from them equipped with the chrome wheels. After three hours at the dealership, refusing to leave until they did something, she finally sent him away in a rental car, which he had to pay for, while they thought about it. He was livid and I don’t blame him. At 5:00 p.m. they finally called him to say they could replace the three rims with some used ones just like those that were on the car, which they found at a tire store. At this point he’s happy to have any rims and will accept them just to get back on the road. But shouldn’t they really be providing new rims? Will the used rims be warranted? Is there any truth to the chromes wheels not having any warranty? Does Anyone know if there are any TSBs for this problem? If you ask me, this is disgraceful and Infiniti of Thousand Oaks should be ashamed. Hopefully, he’ll track down the owner tomorrow and lodge a complaint. I'm trying to get him to call Infiniti consumer affairs as well. This really upset me too because, being a previous Q45, and now G35, owner, I’m an Infiniti fan, but this is disgusting. I hope it’s not a sign that Infiniti service is being lowered to the lowest common denominator of automobile manufacturers’ service. Maybe Thousand Oaks Infiniti just has a bad egg in their service management team, but that’s how it all begins…
Re: No Warranty on Chrome Rims
Hmmmm. my G came with chrome wheels from the dealer, they are the G wheels though, are yours? I could understand that if you had them chromed yourself, but if they came from the dealer, that makes no sense. I see on the Infiniti website, when you compare the G to other cars, there is an option for chrome wheels, this should be interesting!

Re: No Warranty on Chrome Rims
This happened to my friend's QX4, not with my G35. The rims are Infiniti QX4 chrome rims that came with the car from the dealer when it was purchased new.
Re: No Warranty on Chrome Rims
Yes, that's what I thought you said, but for sure, if they came from Infiniti, they have to be on the warranty, I still say the only way they could deny that is if they were chromed after purchase, or if a tire place cracked them, seems kind of hard to believe that 3 could have been cracked by someone though!

Re: No Warranty on Chrome Rims
Don't get me started about Infiniti of Thousand Oaks. My salesman was the only good thing that happened there. Boy, I'm glad I left Ventura County! Your friend should threaten with a lawsuit. I hate them more than poop on the bottom of my shoes.
