Tien coilovers???
Tien coilovers???
Is Tien planning on making coilovers for the G35 coupe? I hear the 350Z and the G35 coupe is almost the same suspension. Would you guys get the 350Z coilovers for your G35 coupe?
Re: Tien coilovers???
I dunno about using 350Z coils on a Gcoupe. I would just wait for TEIN to come out with specific G equipment. I am looking at HKS Hypermax LS coils, at about the same price. There is also NISMO to consider as well.

It's still a G thang!!

Re: Tien coilovers???
I currently have eibach springs.. Im really thinking about the coilovers... I dont konw about nismo.. they would be good just dont kown when they are going to come out... the hks hypermax ls coilovers look great... i wish i had the $ to get em.. might save up.... sounds tempting to be able to drop your car from 1 - 3 inches.. haha wouldent mind driving with a 2 1/2 drop somtimes....
the only question i have is that if you get coilovers and you drop it like 1.3 inches normally... and then you drop it 2.5 inches.. how does the camber work?!?!

Re: Tien coilovers???
there are also coilovers from www.jic-magic.com
I just got mine and they are sweet. Still tuning and will post when I have more info. Right now the car is so unbelievable I cannot believe everyone is telling me it will get better.

I've checked around. some people will sell you the 350z suspension for the G35coupe.
Another place told me it's highly not recommended. the g35coupe has a different chassi and weighs more. The Sedan suspension should fit on the coupe though, since it is the similar chassi and weight.

Re: Tien coilovers???
You would definitely need a camber kit when using coil overs. Unless you plan to leave it 0-1.5 inch drop forever, then there is no point in getting coils. The JIC FLT-A2's say that they come with front camber.
Mountain > I guess you really like the JIC's but do you have anything to compare to other than stock. You know or ride with anyone using HKS LS or Eibach Pro-Kits? What made you decide with JIC over the other brands?

Re: Tien coilovers???
The 350z and G35c suspension is the same. However the 350z suspension is tuned much stiffer than the G35c. Who ever was trying to sell you the suspension was trying to rip you off.
Unless you just want to drop the car. I wouldnt mess with the cars supension untill we see some complete suspension solutions. As far as lowering the car goes. I think the car sits perfectly with the stock wheels. If you changed wheels size, then I can understand lowering the car.

Re: Tien coilovers???
I disagree about the camber kit. I have noticed that my camber has changed after dropping the car about 1.5” but I feel that is added to some of the improved handling. I will have to see if there is negative effect on tire wear.
I bought the JIC system because after comparing the JIC with blitz and HKS (I think that is all that is available today) the JIC system is the one with the most adjustments. JIC has 15 way dampening where all 4 dampening dials can be accessed with no tools and nothing needing to be removed, preload adjustment independent of ride height, and ride height which does not affect suspension travel. I also think they sell different springs to go on their coil-overs. I do not have anyone that I know that has done anything with their suspension in my area.
I do know that my brother and his M3 is out shopping for new suspension after riding in my car with the JIC. Tuning is not hard to do but there is no written method so it is trial and error. I am sure that is the same with other kits.
The only draw back at this point (I installed them a week ago tues.) is the ride quality. I think it is safe to say that any messing with the stock suspension will roughen things up a bit. I should have pics and more info in the next few weeks.

Re: Tien coilovers???
the thing is that i want coilovers so i can adjust my height... i have it dropped with the eibach 1.1 pro kit right now.. but sometimes I feel like i want to drop it even more.. just to see what it would look like.. and to drive around with a slammed car..
)
mountain: you said earlier that you can get to all the adjustment for the JICs without taking anything out/apart?
Pictures?

Re: Tien coilovers???
I will have some pics in a week or so. I forgot my digi camera and had to use an analog one when we did the install.
You can get to the dampening settings without tools. All the rest of the adjustments (preload and ride height) must be done with the wheels off. So the only thing you need to remove are the nuts holding the tires on. No other bolts get removed.
You do need a micrometer or something to measure the distances so you get the same ride height on all the tires.
I will post pics soon. Keep in mind that you get much more from coilovers then just lowering the car. The handling characteristics are changed so dramatically you wont believe it.
I paid about $1800 delivered and spent another $200 working with my local shop getting it tuned correctly. I have 8 racing events that I am scheduled for later this year. It should do really well on the track with the new coilovers.
Edited by mountain on 02/22/03 08:41 AM.
