Just got TE37's in today...whats the silver ring?
Hey,
Just got my TE37's in today...STATUS gave me what I think are the hubcentric rings? Do I need these on my 2004 5AT coupe? If I do, whats the process to put them on?

I think they are used to relieve pressure from the wheel studs, and to help with vibrations. I'm not using any with my wheels and have no problems.

They're hubcentric rings. Yes, you do need them. Your wheels are a 73.1 center bore, your hub is 66.1 mm across. It centers your wheel on the hub, keeping lateral stress off the studs. Not using them, puts lateral stress on your studs and doesn't center your wheels, which can lead to vibration or even worse, shearing of a stud!
Putting them on is easy. Push them down by hand around the hub until they're flush. If you need to, use a mallet or very lightly with a hammer. You want to try to avoid damaging the edge. Makes it harder to get your wheels over them.

Ok cool, and these are aluminum, I read that its better to have ABS ones because of the corrosion that will occur making it a pain in the *** to get the wheels off..is that true? Is there anything I can put on the aluminum rings to make them less likely to corrode?

I have aluminum rings. Never had a problem with getting the wheel on or off, though they can be tougher to get off the hub. Its typically the hub where they get stuck, not the wheel. Then you'll just need a screwdriver or something to pry it off, WD40 or some sort of other rust breaker helps. If you gouge the edge of the ring, you can smooth it down.

Oh well in that case...thats not that bad. The other thread made it seem like they would basically weld themselves onto the wheel/hub haha...ok well once I get my Kics R26 lugnuts in, ill put them on
aluminum > abs. you want a wheel fitment that's snug and just right onto the hub. plastic ones do not seat in securely, imho. i had some plastic gorilla ones and they did not relieve any vibrations as aluminum wheel hubs would.
the aluminum will not corrode... it's the rust on the hub that'll grip onto the rings.
