Nitto 450 tires SUCK

I just put some Nitto 450 tires on my 6MT sedan. I do some autocrossing with the local SCCA here in LA. I tried the new sway bar and Nitto tire set up this wekend at the CA Speedway. The sway bars worked well, real nice and level. The Nitto's 450's SUCKED!!! I swear it was like skating on ice. Well not that bad but definilty worse than the stock Goodyear GS-D's. I looked for tires that wouldn't change the size for like a week. I looked to my fellow G35 owners, and read everything I could find. Nitto looked good. I was all set to buy the Falken Azenis or Toyo T1-S. I like the more performance tire but they only came in 225/45 17. Way to small. Maybe I will buy a set of extra 17" rims and get some Azenis. Everyone at the SCCA event is running them. If you AutoX stay away from the Nitti 450.

Well I have to take back the early review of the Nitto 450. THey aren't bad at all. While at the shop to get the Eibach sway bar issue resolved I asked what pressure they recommended for the Nitto 450. They called Nitto and asked what the car was being used for. I told them autoX and daily driver and they said the fronts at 35 for daily driving and 38 for autoX. The rears 35 daily and 35 for autoX. Seems kind of weird but after the adjustment they work great. I had the fronts at 44 and the rears at 40 for the event this last week. They were real loose. I took a run up Palomar Mountain today and they worked great. Lots of grip. Although part of the change may have been from the adjustment to the Eibach sway bars.

What's up 6speedG35sedan? I was at Cali Speedway on Sunday too! I was the other G35 owner in the whole place. You helped me with my tires. Anyways, I'm glad your tires don't suck afterall. Let me know when that event comes up again, we'll try to get more G owners there.

Hey Vic,

I had my Goodyear GS-D's figured out. But they wore out as you will find with the Solo 2 stuff. That was truly a great event. If you signed up for the membership they will send you flyers via email to let you know about the next event. I won't be at Hollywood Park as it is my wifes B-day the 7th. If you go have a great time.

Ouch. Yeah, 44psi is a bit much for autocross.

If they ever get around to having another event down at Qualcomm, you'll have to show me your new sway bars.

If you're going to get a second set of rims and tires just for autocross, you may as well get Hoosier or Kumho R-compound racing tires. I hear they're much better than even the Azenis, especially now that Hoosier and Kumho each have a new tire out this year.

Yeah the sway bars took a little more to learn a good set up than I thought they would. Also like any performance vehicle the combination is very important. Tires, wheels, sway bars, springs and shocks. So you put all that stuff on your car, that doesn't necessarly mean that they work well together right out of the box. You have to mess around with it all to "get the balance right" (as sung by Depeche Mode). That's the fun part trying to figure out what to tweek next. I think I may be getting closer.

Hey Ryoken do you know if now that STX is a national class will they run it down in San Diego? Also can I get away with the Hoosier or Kumhoracing tire in STX. There was a guy at the last LA event in a Mini who was running in H class with the Hoosiers.
