New rubber - replaced the noisy OEMs

I finally had enough of the non-stop road noise from my still-gripping but loud-as-all-get-out Potenzas, after 19K miles. The new tires are Michelin Pilot Sport 2s. With the 19-inch OEM wheels I was able to increase the rears to 265/35 (from stock 245/40). The fronts stayed the same (225/40). The difference is amazing. Great handling as expected, and *no noise*. I read as many reviews and posts as I could find and these were consistently rated highly - which I would completely agree with. Def worth the $.

post some pics homie. Want to check them out. Where did you get your tire package from?

No road noise? Hard to believe.

Falken 452's also a good choice for reduced road noise.

I would imagine the reduction in road noise would also be due to the fact that your Potenzas were worn. Most hi-perf tires get very noisy as they wear down. Glad to hear you like them, though, as that's what I'm considering when I need to replace PS 1's.

You are right on the money! Any worn tires will be screaming with our distorted front end geometry. New tires of course will be quieter. Only time will tell how long before the tire roar reappears. Directional tires and aggressive tread also contribute to the tire noise.

No doubt it was the wear on my Potenzas that created the roar - and it *was* loud, especially on braking. I'm not clear what you mean by "distorted front end geometry", but whatever, these new tires are smooth and very quiet by comparison. Ratings say that this brand stays that way for a while at least, so we'll see. I will also avoid driving them on dry days this coming winter season (I have a beater for that). Since we had a relatively snowless winter in Boston last year, I drove the G whenever I could, not knowing that summer tires hate sub-freezing weathe. I may have worn them down prematurely as a result.

Pictures, for those interested, will be posted as soon as I take them.
