'04 Brakes and Wheel paint

A couple of months ago, I related a conversation with Infiniti Consumer Affairs, who had indicated the '04s were getting harder semi-metallic pads, becuase of the brake wear issue. I went back to them last month to get specifics about what they were doing with the brakes and rotors. They wound up sending the question to the Nissan engineers in Japan. Apparently, they have not changed the pads or rotors on the '04 builds. I also asked about a paint code for the wheels, since I had just finished repairing my wife's A4 wheels, before selling it. Someone on an Audi forum had found a Toyota color that matched perfectly. Infiniti's response was that since they don't sell touchup paint for the wheels, they don't have a paint code. Has anyone tried to match the wheel paint?

Did you get this in writing, or just someone telling you that? I'd like to know what they are doing, or did, since I have a '04.Seems to me with the wear warranty, they would be stupid not to change the pads/rotors, that has to be costing them quite a bit! Anyone who has had their brakes replaced on this warranty notice any difference?

I didn't get it in writing, but the CS person (Matt) was very conscientious. It took about three weeks to get answers and he called me in between, to let me know he was still tracking down answers. I agree, that not changing the brakes doesn't make sense. I think their problem is that its both pads and rotors that are wearing. I've already ordered a set of EBC kevlar pads and my car isn't due to be delivered for another week. Its why I was asking if they had made a change.

I will say I agree with the CS service, they have been very efficient each time I have contacted them, even thought I was told they were replacing the pads with a better wearing one, we'll see, I will keep them as long as the 3/36k warranty is in force though for sure!

Re: '04 Brakes and Wheel paint

the brakes and rotors are unchanged...the warranty has been extended for 3yrs or 36,000...not to bad on their part...as far as the wheels go...if they are the 18" some people used the silver paint for the 350Z...I damaged my front wheel shortly after taking delivery and tried myself to touch it up I found some Testors paints which matched pretty well....But i finally went back to my dealership who provided a service to refinish the wheel....hope this helps 2old4this

Oh, so you get just as much dust then, is that right? I'm still not comfortable with the brake wear thing, even though covered by warranty if they are using the same pads, sounds stupid to me!
