Hi All,

I am looking for 2 front tires for my 04' G35Coupe 18" rims. The stock Pilot Sport wore out after 2 summers.

A local shop ask me to replace with Toyo T1R, but my friends told me it wears out faster than PS.

So which tire will you guys recommand? 225/45/18..

My goal is to find a set of tires which is has a good price, fair gribs, good life.

 

Bridgestone RE960AS pole position. Better performance all around than the stock Michelins and less expensive, up there in handling with the T1-R's but will last twice as long. I'd recommend getting all 4 at the same time though. You dont want to mix tire brands on these cars or the VDC will start acting up.

Everything is a tradeoff, so you have to determine what you're willing to sacrifice to get long life and lower price. The OEM Pilot Sports are great tires, grip tenaciously and handle well, but obviously don't last long (most max performance tires won't last more than 12k-15k miles.) I would check out the Tire Rack, Discount Tire Direct and 1010 Tires and compare the various options on there.

Also, keep in mind that the RE960AS is an all season tire, and as such won't grip or respond quite as well as the Pilot Sports, but that may not be noticeable nor important to you. They also will likely do a bit better in colder weather (although I still would use snows for the winter, and do on my coupe.)

 

I'm lovin my Potenza RE040 right now. 255/45/18 rear and 225/40/18 front

General Exclaim UHP is the best tire at all-time according to the poll. But I never heard of it before. And they don't have the right size for the front 225/45/18.

Middle of the road wet braker proves you cannot totally depend on these rankings especially with low miles reported [some other tires have 12 times the number of users/miles reported].

Not as good as some of the Kumhos in equal tests?

 

I finally decided to go with Potenza RE960AS Pole Position. The reason being are:

1. Great treadwear UTQG 400!!
2. All round, better in wet and light snow condition without losing too much grip on dry surface
3. Cheaper, only $180 a piece
4. Noise and Ride comfort is better than the stock Pilot Sport

The only con I notice was it is 3lb heavier than the PS. :P

This is the perfect tire for me if it is good as it said on the websites.

I live in Vancouver, does anyone knows any good tire shop in washington just passed the border?
