19" rims and 20" rims

I've noticed that people who want fast G's with the biggest rims possible always get 19" rims instead of 20" rims.. 19" seems to be a popular choice. Do 20" rims really slow you down that much more than 19" rims? I want to get 20s but if they slow you down a lot I might get 19s instead. Any input would be nice.

depends on the 20's. if you get some nice forged ones they won't slow you down that much. but i have some cast 20's so i can't chirp 2nd anymore. the more rotational mass there is, the slower the acceleration.

yes they do slow you down a lot more. Theres just so much more diameter.

Diameter is the same, guys with 20's run smaller tires to keep the overall size the same...

It comes down to weight. A set of cast 19's will slow you down more than good forged 20's.

I put M-45 Sport rims on my sedan with 245 35 19's. They actually have a smaller circumference than the stock 18" with 245 45 18's. My speedo is 2.5 mph fast now.
