feathering affect all models?

'06 coupe here, I have 14,000 miles and my tires are noisy. I noticed at 6k, they were getting a little noisy while braking. Around 10k they got louder at highway speed. Now at 14k I have to turn up the volume on my stereo to not hear it.

I thought the feathering was just a Z problem. Do Infiniti's other models have feathering problems? Like the M45?

All heavy cars with directional tires with large blocks and high camber and caster have heel toe feathering if you don't demount, flip and reverse wear the high spots on block edges every 3,000 miles.

ahh...another tire feathering victim. Makes me want to get some non-directional tires. Anyone with experience on non-directionals?

Q45tech,

Was hoping you would chime in. Do you guys see much feathering with the "M" series? Would you say equal or less feathering than the G?

The feathering on my coupe isn't nearly as bad as the Z I had. But it is still there

Thanks

Heel-Toe feathering is not an effect limited to directional tires. However it does show up more frequently because the tire rotates the same direction all the time. If you don't rotate your non-directional tires frequently enough Heel-Toe feathering will show up as well.

I took my directional Avon 550 A/S off my fronts after 7,000 miles due to the excessive road roar. It was unbearable. I went back to the non directional OEM Goodyear RSAs and after 2,000 miles, the inside feathering is quite minimal. I guess Infiniti knew what they were doing when using these tires as stock. The noise is negligible. The day I put the directional Avons on, I heard the road noise immediately. Non directional tires and keeping the toe at max specs all helps to diminish the feathering and road roar. It will not go away, but it will slow down. The G35 sedan does not have any of these issues.
