Another broken Sevas wheel...eek...

Was looking at some stuff for my dad's GX470 and saw this:
http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=300702

Sevas are nice looking wheels and I would of had a set on my car if they fit right on a sedan. However I recently seen some actual pics of the backside and the chrome lip, IMO quality was lacking. These rims are made in China, I would suggest get something that is made in Taiwan or Japan. I use to design proucts and we could see a huge differnce between the samples we got back from China, Taiwan and Japan...of course the prices reflected that...

YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!! that's some scary **** man...I've heard and seen wheels cracking but falling apart like that, is unheard of in other 1pc wheels. D2 is doing the right thing in not selling those wheels anymore until it's resolved.

Hmmm, I wonder if they had hubcentric rings fitted. If not, maybe vibration in the wheel caused it to degrade over time?

Its a little hard to believe you where just driving and the wheel broke apart by itself. I have been sponsored by Sevas for a while and honestly it sucks that this happen. I spoke with the owner and he said he is giving the guy a new wheel but wants that wheel back to send for further testing. What happen there is less then .00001% of all the wheels in the road so he thinks it just could have been one defected wheel but also wants to see how it broke. I speak with him often so I will keep you guys posted. There are thousands of satisfied Sevas Wheel Owners out there and Im one of them.

I saw a car on the '07 G35 sedan forum (if I recall correctly) with a broken Seva as well. The break was similar but it did not come completely apart. It was cracked along the inner edge where the spoke meet the rim.

After further review that wheel is shown further down the Lexus link..

Kinda like shopping at WallMart.......!

I don't feel the quality of merchandise coming from China or Korea is worth
a damn. Japan seems to be concerned about quality as well as style so
that's where I'd shop......my two cents!

Ugghhh.. You really do get what you pay for.

I'm ashamed for all Chinese people...we really need to brush up a bit and quit cutting corners.
