G35 Coupe RWD question

i own a 2004 g35 coupe with stock michelin pilot sports on my 18inch stock rims, i need to replace my tires and i understand the dimension in the rear is 245/45-18, I was wondering i put on 245/40-18 wheels if it would make a difference and if it would fit? infiniti said it might set my traction control off but im askin for my opinions and if it matters

Re: G35 Coupe RWD question

As you search this board, you'll see a variety of set-ups. Having said that, generally people try to stay within 3% of the factory specs so as to not throw off the VDC system....and the speedo/odometer readings. The replacement tire that you stated falls within 3.6%....that is, speedometer reads 60 mph, actual travel speed 57.8 mph.

Re: G35 Coupe RWD question

What is the widest tire that will safley site the stock 18" performance wheels? I currently have the pilot 245/45/18 Rear and 225/45/18 front.
I would like to keep the stock wheels, just add more meat in the rear, the local Discount Tire store said I could put 275/40/18 rear and 245/40/18 front to keep the ratio right.
I am just curious if a 275 is safe on the stock 18 x 8 wheel?

Re: G35 Coupe RWD question

go here to see what fits what size wheel: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....el=Pilot+Sport

look up your tire size then look to see the rim width range

275 is gonna take at least a 9" rim
