5% difference at 60mph means you are off 3mph already, thats not even high speeds. Unless you drive around at 120+mph a majority of the time, I don't see the point of your comment. You are also putting 500 additional miles on your odometer for every 10000 miles you travel. But if its worth it for you, great.

 

I just would not drive the car with tires that look like they belong to the truck. If it had to mess up the speedo a little bit i would not mind at all. That is why everyone is different.

Not really, I have yet to see anyone going 40 profile tires on their aftermarket 19s and anyone who ran out of thread on their stock 19s they always make a thread like this.

 

You don't get it, the stock 245/40/19 that you say looks truckish has the same sidewall height as a 275/35/19, so wouldn't that mean it looks like a truck also? Thats the most common aftermarket tire size used here in the rear.

 

It does NOT look that way because the width of the tire compliments the height on a 275/35/19. Have u seen both in real life next to each other?

I'm running 265/35 and 245/35.

If you really wanted to, you could probably shoe-horn a 295 or 305 on there, but it would look like $hit.

My 265/35 has a straight sidewall as do the 245's up front.

Have the shop fit a 275/35 and put the car down and see if it bulges out or not.

 

A 245/40/19 on an 8.5 has about the same amount of stretch as a 275/35/19 on a 9.5. I've seen plenty of these setups, and they look the same height. Even stretched the height difference is minimal. Sounds like you are seeing things other than sidewall height

I never recommended 265/40/19, notice I said multiple times that it depends on the tire width. I recommend 255/40/19 to people who want something wider than the 245/40/19 in the rear, and 255 is the widest you can go to stay within the manufacturer's safety specs, so 255/40/19 is a close match to the OEM size than 255/35/19, which in turn can mess the the VDC as well. Would I personally runn a 255/40/19? No, because I would stick with the OEM sized 245/40/19 rear. A 255/40/19 is a compromise between width and matching OEM specs, but to say ALL 40 series tires look trucklike doesn't make sense when they have the same sidewall height as wider tires with lower aspect ratios. What about a 225/40/19, that has a very short sidewal?

 

^u might be right about the speedo inacuracy and stuff but as far as ABS/VDC goes u are completely wrong about that. I have never had any issues with neither of them with 255/30/19s. VDC (When its on) will only come up when the tires lose grip.

 

You may not have, but plenty of people have had issues with the VDC running weird staggered or nonstaggered setups. Just do a quick search and you'll find dozens of cases of people asking why their VDC goes of intermittenly for no reason, and its usually traced back to tire size/stagger issues. So YMMV on that, some people have gotten away with square setups just fine while others have not, I'm just presenting my opinion based on the experiences I've dealt with here.

Guys, the choice is between a 265/30/19 and a 265/35/19, stock mine are 35 sidewall's also, i just checked!

possibly a 275 tho.

 

No G's came with a 35 series sidewall stock, not sure what you checked...265/35/19 is the size you are looking for though. Just be aware it is outside of the manufacturer's specification range for an 8.5" wheel, and thus potentially unsafe. Some shops won't even mount it on those wheels, so you may have to look around.
