TPS Question

I tried searching, but couldn't really find an answer. I have an 03 sedan and I just recently put OEM 18's from a coupe on her. Now my ABS is acting up. I think it's because the TPS sensors are picking up on the two different tire sizes. Has anyone else dealt with this? If so, what's the fix? I plan on trying to put closer tire sizes on the front and back, but they still won't be the same so is there any way to get around this??

What size are the tires?

I have had this problem before and if they are too far off in diameter the car will think it is in a slip and try to fix it. The only fix is to keep VDC off but after a little driving the car will also turn off the VDC and ABS so it is not a good thing to do for long.

Well, the rear tires are stock coupe size. The front tires however, are not stock size. Maybe that's what is making the difference. Hopefully if I put the right size on the front the car won't act up. I was thinking of going 225/45's in the front and 245/40's in the rear. That would be fairly close in size.

As long as they are close you will be ok. I tried 225/55 and 225/40's on my stock 17's and it caused a problem.

03's don't have tire pressure sensors. My 03.5 sedan doesn't. I put coupe wheels with TPMS sensors in them and I haven't had any of the issue you are having. It has to be some other problem.

If its bigger tires in the front then the ABS is going to go off, because it thinks the rear tire's are slipping(Front going fast due to bigger tires)

Use this tire size calculator to find the right size tires. http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp

BTW, the 18 inch coupe rims are 18.8 +30 all around, so you can run the same size tires all around. On my sedan with coupe rims, I run 235/45/18's

I was under the impression that the coupe wheels were staggered with a different width between front and back. Stupid me if I'm wrong. I think I worded my thread wrong. I guess people think of TPS as throttle positioning sensor. I did mean TPMS, but what I'm thinking is the wheel speed sensors on the hubs of the car are picking up different wheel speeds and it's causing my ABS to act up. I think with different tire sizes than what I have it may be just fine. Thanks for the input guys!
