Rubber and rim recommendations.

Hey guys, I need a tire experts advice here. I want to track my car this summer so I am saving up some $ to get some rims and tire pkg. I know its quite expensive so I am thinking about going with 17" rims this way I can keep cost down and will be able to replace the rubber with out having to sell my organs . Here is what I am looking for:

1. Traction
2. Thread wear
3. Price

As for the rims, I don't know what to get. There are so many options, but since its primarily for tracking, I am looking for something light. I am sure you guys have experience with this topic and I would really appreciate it if I can get some recommendations towards my purchase.

Thanks in advance.

for the rims, you can try the SSR C-RS, OZ ultraleggera or the Wedsport SA-70. All of them are very light and in 17" should be under 18lbs per rim. You can see them all at tire rack. For tires, The Yoko Advans or nitto Nt01 are just a few of the track tires offered.

All good options listed so far. Just to add to the list, there are also wheels like the Enkei NT03+M, Axis Reverb, Wedsport SA-90, Advan TC II, RG II, and the Gram Light line of wheels by Rays.

Thanks for all the advise guys, I will be doing some research of my own based on your comments this weekend. I also wanted to know if I should I be looking at forged rims for tracking? Or does it really matter since its only for the tracks and less likely to crack.
