hahahaha

I laughed hard reading this.

Very clever.

I got to say tho that I'm running all 4 tires without sensors and my light only comes on when I drive for long period of time without stopping.

Otherwise that it is off.

That's good to know then... well sounds like if its not working the ABS piping may not be "sealing" and you're not holding pressure.

On the flipside... we need to replace our TPMS sensors when the battaries roll out if someone keeps the car that long or buys a used car later... Kind of pricey to replace but I guess every ten years... you'd probably do it once at most. The units on my car are completely sealed in an expoxy of some sort. I have a 2004 sedan and coupe.

Its not a problem with the abs piping not holding pressure, my pipe was sealed and held the correct pressure for days measured with my pressure guage, i just think the system needs to detect the sensors at 4 different locations, it somehow knows the distances it requires for proper operation. I know that the 350z uses the same sensor, and their system actually detects the pressure at each wheel separately so it must know somehow that they are at different distances from the sensor. You may be able to do this, and then go to the dealership and have the sensors reprogrammed which may solve the problem

That is what I mentioned earlier in the thread, the sensors have to be reprogrammed with the car at the Dealership, for it to work properly.

The system uses the keyless entry door lock receiver to read the signals from the wheels into the BCM. The Infiniti system can detect each corner just like the Nissans, but only in diagnostics, not as driver information (not sure why). In order to tell one from the other, each sensor has to have it's unique code registered to one corner of the car. If you rotate the tires you need to re-register the corners otherwise they still work, but the positions will appear to be wrong.

Redlude, I believe UsualSuspect nailed it on the dot! I remember each time I rotate my tires, the sensors will still work, but the next time I came into service my tech guy will reset it so it knows which corner... though on my GPS, it doesn't do what the Zs do and tell you which corner is what so I didn't find it critical to reset everytime as it still beeps the same light when I have a flat or low pressure and I just check all my tires... because system doesn't really tell you which tire anyhow... so often I would rotate without resetting immediately and just wait till next service interval.

Redlude, were these sensors currently in use on your vehicle or did you pick up a new / used set from someone/place. If they are new / just picked up... then that would explain why they don't detect them... they have not been reset to pick up in the learn mode.

Just another thought. Though they have batteries like you say... wouldn't they need to get some centrifugal force going to activate start them to send a signal. Do you think just the motion of car with sensors in tube "rattling" around is enough to "turn them on" so to speak.

I am relating the sensors to the little LEDs that are installed on my 4 year old son's bike. They don't tun on at rest and when the wheels start spinning the lights come on. In that way they save batteries when not in use.

On another note, that would explain why with no TPMS sensors it takes about 50 miles contiuous before the TPMS lights up an error code that there is no sensor present... it couldn't read the sensor because they were not on for a fixed duration for some time now under some monitoring parameter... (i.e. spinning motion of wheel during drive).

Redlude, do you have the sensors packed too tightly in tube? maybe they need some motion (+ the reset if you haven't done that already)

I've got a good tire pressure gauge in the glove compartment and I use it every week or two. That's what I trust.

No they were removed from my OEM wheels before selling, so I know for sure they are working. I also know that the system is recognizing them because if I don't have any sensors at all, then the TPMS light blinks for ~30 seconds before staying on, but when I put the sensors in the tube near the car, the light stays lit as soon as I start it.
