Tire Plug

I know I am probably being paranoid but last night I saw something stuck in my tire and assuming it was a rock (dark outside) I tried to pry it out with my key. After a couple of tries I realized it was a tire plug from when I picked up a nail a couple of months back.

Could this have loosened the plug enough for it to come out or leak air? Don’t want my fiancée driving down the highway and loose a tire...

Any thoughts?

Tire plugs....?

There's not a "Good" tireshop on the planet that would plug a radial tire. Yes,
I've seen it done but I wouldn't allow it on my car. If you have a nail in your
tire it should be patched which takes a little time, pluging is fast, easy and
cheaper for the tireshop....and wrong!

Thanks. Anyone else?

patching isn't 100% ideal either. it still leaves the original hole on the outside. moisture can come in causing the steel belts to corrode possibly leaving the tire weak. to be honest our work van has had multiple plugs put into the tires because it's out on a lot of job sites, and i've never seen any of the plugs fail or the tires to lose air.

to the op ... if you've got a lot of tread life left in that tire... just take it back and have them add the patch, otherwise i would just leave it. i'd do whatever to put my mind at ease.
