Q: New member - 19s on sedan???

Hey everyone. New memeber and a proud g35x sedan owner. Its a 2006 fully loaded with navigation and wood trim. Since day one, all I do is think about ways to improve its looks and proformance. So far, Ive made typical upgrades, tints, chrome pillars, new grill, spoiler, improved rotors, xenon headlights -black out, chrome license plates, race pedles, and now finally its spring and time to get some new shoes for my girl!

Ok.. was thinking about dropping the car and having it sit on 19s.. great but not in New England area with hills, pot holes, etc.. plus its way to much work and a hell of alot of money and time to do it right! ( cant afford both right now)
Q: IF i get 19s and increase the size of the tire will it fill in my wheel well giving the illusion its dropped???? also Im assuming it wont sacrafice the ride of the sedan, even though I have 19s now rather then 17s with meat on the tires?
IS this statement true? and if so .. what size tires do I buy? offset or all around? Need the right size were they wont rub and fill in.
looking forward to respones and even more purchesing my first set of rims bring this G over the top !
jd
ps. will post pictures as soon as i Get rims on - couple of weeks from now.
Thanks everyone ~
pss. all u guys do an amazing job/ work on ur cars.. good sh*T, Im impressed.
psss. Is anyone else having trouble view pics of sedans on this wesite? Each computer does not load the full image of memebers cars???? strange

hey cool, that's what I ordered and lately most people are saying 35 series... glad to see you endorse 40 (the PMs I sent previously were when I was going 18)

BTW - the car should be finished with exterior and wheels in a couple months - I was hoping you would photo shoot for me... I'll drop a PM later for pricing and your availability if you are willing...

Sorry for the temp thread jack.

Take a look at this thread.

https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v35-2003-06/103232-calling-all-x-s-lowered-suspension.html

I am lowered and and have 19's on my X. I live North of Boston. The ride is certainly more rigid, not chopped feeling, but I am VERY happy with it.

Mine on stock suspension. Rear looks a tad lower as the overall dia is a touch larger on oem tires. Front is 4 X 4 city though lol.

thanks! great thread... I never look in X threads, but there is a bunch of 245/40/19s there... seems to be more common with X than 2RWD - I like the look and am glad I went that size.

My before and after pics on 19's for the X are at the end of the X thread. Look very similar to the post above. Need a winch and gun rack for the front with no drop.

^Nope, don't have a camber kit. I was going to get a rear kit, but since I didn't roll my fenders my installer didn't want me to have any rubbing issues by standing the tires up in the back. Haven't seen any excessive tire wear yet, been about 7 or 8K miles. Probably will flip (or rotate since I have the same size F/R) them soon.

Nice candle. How do the 245s fit on the fronts? No rubbing in the rears?

Thanks Jeff. The 245s are a very nice fit for the front, fills up the entire wheel well. The fronts rub on very steep inclines if you don't go sideways (2 driveways that I've driven on - church and the car wash). I've perfected the art getting in and out of those without rubbing though, even with 2 or 3 passengers. No rubbing at all in the rears.

A change in rim diameter will not cause your tires to rub. A change in tire width combined with a drop is what you have to be careful about. As long as the correct offset is used for both front and back, you can fit 245s in front and 275s in back for a sedan with up to a 2 inch drop.
This is dropped about 1.5 inches with 245 front and 275 rear. (Offsets 35 and 48)
