I had really good luck with my last set of ASA rims (17" LS5s) on my old Maxima so I went ahead and ordered a set of ASA 18 AR2s for my G35 a couple of months ago. I didn't have any issues with LS5s bending and I drove on them for over 2 years. Lots of BMW guys run ASA rims and they don't seem to report any major issues, especially with the popular AR1 and AR2 series. I don't run ultra low profile tires though and that may be why. My Maxima had 225/50R17 and my G has 235/45R18. As for weight, some ASA rims are pretty heavy and some aren't. The LS5s were 18lbs for the 17X7 and my AR2 18X8s weigh 23lbs. The AR2s are about 3lb lighter than my OEM 17X7 Sport rims.

I use ASA JH8's for my winter wheels, and surprisingly enough, I also use ASA JH8's for my track wheels. Yes, they are a bit heavy, but I'm not trying to win nationals, I just wanted a separate set of wheels to mount my R-Comps on, and not worry too bad about how much money I lost if I bent a rim on an off track excursion.

People keep saying ASA rims are heavy, but many are not. I wouldn't consider 18lbs for a 17X7 or 23lbs for a 18X8 very heavy. Most aftermarket and OEM rims are heavier than that. Sure, Rays wheels are usually 2lbs to 4lbs lighter per size, but you pay 3X to 4X as much. People focus so much on wheel weight, but don't consider tire weight. There is often a 2lb to 3lb weight difference between same sized tires of different makes. That's one way to make up the difference.
